Our favourite looks from Paris Fashion Week FW 26/27

Where Demna’s Gucci show reigned as the viral moment of Milan Fashion Week, last night saw the Parisian equivalent as Chanel raked in the A-Listers (Olivia Dean, Lily-Rose Depp, Margot Robbie) for a colourful catwalk extravaganza at the Grand Palais. The internet’s focus might have been on the models’ glitter-rainbow hair, but Matthieu Blazy’s playful take on the Chanel suit was just as compelling. It underlined one of the key themes of AW26/7 in Paris: tailoring with a twist. Stella McCartney’s also rose — or, more fittingly, rode — to the occasion with her equestrian pivot on tailoring, which was presented in a riding hall at the Bois de Boulogne. Elsewhere, romanticism made an apt appearance in the city of love, with maisons such as Dior and Celine introducing florals into their collections. Florals not for spring; now that might actually be groundbreaking. As in Milan, fun textures also made their mark. Rick Owens notoriously doesn’t do things in halves and his take on a fur coat certainly met the designer’s reputation. Meanwhile, Elie Saab played with vinyl, Loewe did things with wool that your Nan could only dream of and Jean Paul Gaultier brought wood onto the runway (kind of).
