Our favourite looks from Milan Fashion Week FW 26/27

From sheer fabrics to shearling capes, this MFW saw designers having fun with fashion.

This Milan Fashion Week saw plenty of variety, from layered dressing to barely being dressed at all. Demna Gvasalia’s Gucci debut brought back ’90s sex appeal with backless styles, exposed thongs and sheer fabrics — paraded by the ultimate It-girls of the moment (and the archive), Gabbriette, Emily Ratajkowski, Alex Consani, Kate Moss and Amelia Gray to name a few. Meanwhile, Prada went hard on the layering. Think: fur atop a mackintosh atop a double-breasted overcoat. Tailoring was also amongst the trends, with Dolce & Gabbana and Ferrari offering up some notably sharp styles. Frivolity wasn’t lost, though: metallics, fur, sequins and ruching were all seen on the runway, with Moschino winning first prize for its animal-ear headwear. The throughline of the week, then, seemed to be not taking fashion too seriously. But, as the Italians are known for, without losing any charm or effortless sophistication.
