Who. What. Where? No. 135

Welcome to HUNGER’s Who. What. Where? Your one stop shop for all the latest and greatest upcoming cultural must-knows and tip-offs.

Fed up of this weather? Dreaming of a winter getaway? It’s no secret that we at HUNGER are huge fans of The Standard. But it’s not just an obligatory place to stay — it’s now coming with you wherever you’re heading. That’s because the hotel group has teamed up with Italian luggage company Crash Baggage to create the aptly-named ‘Icon’ suitcase. Of course, it comes in The Standard’s signature shade of red, but even cooler than that, it has a pre-dented shell, which reframes those (usually annoying) bangs into “badges of honour”. It’s giving… well travelled. Globe trotter. Mr Worldwide. And to make the collaboration even more unique, professional nightlife doer Connie Girl — who can often be spotted at The Standard High Line in New York — has created stickers for it. Sounds good? Shop online here, or better yet, head into a Standard hotel to snag one in person.

Moving onto something musical. South London label Speedy Wunderground has dropped the newest edition in its seven-inch single series (that’s where they release new tracks as, you’ve guessed it, seven-inch vinyls). ‘Slack Line’ is a tune by London artist Anolah, featuring vocals from fellow Londoner Hak Baker. It’s adrenaline-filled and incorporates elements of jungle, jazz, punk… It’s hard to pin down into words, so you should probably just listen to it yourself. The single can be streamed here, or if you’re looking for another vinyl to brighten up your collection, pick up the real thing here after 4 December.

If you’re interested in music production as well as consumption, you need to check out Subrosa, the new production studio that’s just opened at Mason & Fifth in Westbourne Park. Subrosa isn’t your average recording space — of course it isn’t, it was designed by Fold founder Seb Glover. The studio is kitted out with state-of-the-art speakers and microphones, collectors items like vintage Fender keyboards, as well as cinema-grade cameras, making it the perfect space for writing, production, content creation, live-streaming, you name it. The pièce de résistance, however, is that every booking comes with access to Mason & Fifth’s wellness studio, which has a pool, sauna, steam room and 24/7 gym. Stunning. To book a half-day, overnight stay, or a session with producers like Maya Jane Coles and A Guy Called Gerald, enquire here.

To round things up, we have exciting news in the London retail space. Streetwear big dog Kith is opening its flagship store this Friday (28 November) on Regent Street — only the best for Kith, of course. Spanning two floors, the store brings together Kith menswear, womenswear, kids’, accessories, as well as Kith London exclusive items. Even more exciting is Kith Treats, the in-store café. And even more exciting than that is the brand’s debut restaurant venture from founder Ronnie Fieg. Opening later this year, the dining spot will be called Ronnie’s (of course) and have a New York feel with a Regent Street twist, which can perhaps be summarised by the words, “three martini lunches”. But in the meantime, Kith have launched an exclusive London-themed drop online, which you can shop here.
