It may only be October, but for Chanel, the holiday season is already well underway. And there’s nothing like a shiny new Chanel Beauty collection to get us excited about the winter months. In fact, it could be one of the most effective cures to our post-summer blues.
The collection revolves around the five symbols of the season, selected for their unique powers. And if you were imagining reindeer and baubles, think again. At Chanel, this Christmas will instead be brought in with a lion, camelia, comet, wheat and a pearl, signifying power, luck, harmony, prosperity and radiance respectively. A considerable upgrade to the naff candy canes and snowflakes of Christmas past. These emblems come together to form a unique Chanel Christmas constellation, a concept inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s love and fascination with the cosmos. The collection was created in collaboration with Chanel’s Makeup Creation Studio, and Cécile Paravina, one of the three artists from Chanel’s Comètes Collective.
You’ll find these symbols in all their astrological glory, carefully embossed into the shimmering peach and gold stripes of the Pêche Lumière blush and highlighter duo. Or, if cooler tones are more your beat, you may prefer their Rose Lumière, a satiny pink blush with blueish undertones, paired with a pearly white highlighter strip running across the middle of the compact. These distinct stripes of blush and highlighter invite you to use each product individually, or swirl your brush across the two to create a shimmery cocktail for your cheeks.

The cosmic theme is in full force for the gorgeous Les 4 Ombres Nuit Astral eyeshadow quad, where cool, blue toned shadows can be found in a range of finishes, including a shimmery icy blue highlighter and a satiny lavender shade. Though, if you desire even more variety when it comes to decorating your lids this Christmas, the 9 Ombres palettes could just be the perfect gift to find beneath the tree. The collection includes three different nine-pan compacts, each one created by a different artist from their Comètes Collective. The Daring Muse, by Ammy Drammeh is inspired by “the bold glamour of powerful women”, with a combination of intense shades in shimmering finishes. Cécile’s palette, The New Singular, adopts earthier tones, with a mix of acidic greens and ashy browns that invite the user to explore their creative instincts. Finally, the cosmic theme receives a science-fiction-inspired retelling in Valentina Li’s The Space Traveller palette, with plenty of transcendently shimmering blue-shades.
Finish off your eyes with a swipe of one of their two limited-edition Le Liner de Chanel shades. Choose between Flamboyant, a warm, metalic orange or Écarlate, a daring metallic red, both guaranteed to make a statement. And no make-up look is complete without a healthy coating of mascara; Anthracite, their new blueish grey shade is a touch more interesting that your go-to black bottle.

Of course, your lips are also well accounted for with this collection. For a second-skin feel, their signature Rouge Allure Velvet will be available in two new shades: Abstrait, an intense, brown-toned pink, and Rouge Vie, a deep red with a classic appeal. Or, for a glossier finish, opt for their Rouge Allure Lacque. The liquid lip colour comes in a bright, fiery red, as well as a deeper, pearly purple shade.
The collection isn’t limited to make-up, though. Arguably the most iconic Chanel creation, besides their famous flap bags, are their much celebrated scents, and this Christmas, they’re offering us new ways to enjoy their signature perfumes. The same beloved scents have been given a festive upgrade with limited-edition pearlescent sleeves. However, perhaps the most exciting launch of the collection has to be their adorable new Fragrance on Chains. A new way to wear your favourite perfume, treat yourself to a purse sized Coco Mademoiselle, or No 5 Eau du parfum on a limited-edition jewellery chain, so you can turn your scent into the accessory of the season. One of these on your wrist, and a healthy coating of one of their limited-edition shimmering body oils and you’re set to be the star of any Christmas party.
