The Goat — Featuring Vivienne Westwood

Welcome to HUNGER’s The Goat, where we let you in on all the hottest drops and new releases. Less hype, more the things you actually need on your radar.

Vivienne Westwood has just launched its AW26/27 collection, Anglophilia, and it’s a love-letter to the sex and scandal of Tudor England. History made high-fashion, the collection reinterprets details from Holbein’s paintings of the Tudor court, like the open sleeves in that portrait of Anne of Cleves that got Henry VIII all hot and bothered, but in a more Pinterest-friendly way. Alongside open sleeves, the collection features other historically inspired silhouettes like cinched corsets in signature Vivienne Westwood picnic-blanket print. There’s also striped shirts inspired by the windows lining Jermyn Street which, when paired with hold-up stockings, are the perfect base for an office siren look. Of course, there are nods to the brand’s heritage, too, like the faded handwritten model running order from the SS97 show. The collection is sultry and crafted with intent, dramatic but chic, making it the perfect luxury autumn uniform. Browse the collection here.

It’s sunglasses season again, and while I’ve been trying to make my one-of-a-kind unbranded vintage wraparounds last for one more year, the copious amounts of superglue on the bridge is starting to look a little less shaggy-chic and a little more messy. Having seen Ace and Tate’s new campaign, consider me convinced to swap them out. The imagery for ‘For Your Eyes Only’ is about as sultry as the name suggests, showing a real(ly hot) couple locking lips during a sunny getaway. Inspired by photographer Viviane Sassen’s Umbra series, it’s extremely tasteful and artistic, but the real works of art are the sunglasses themselves. In an earthy, minimalistic colour palette, the beauty of the silhouettes is allowed to shine through. From the ’60s inspired bug-eyed Gaia to the Andis plucked straight out of that picture of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston strolling down Rodeo Drive in 1999, there’s something for everyone. Wool brand HADES is a certified IYKYK cool-girl brand. Known for plastering provocative statements across jumpers, popping images of Queen Liz on skirts and using cigarette-shaped cardigan buttons, it’s the brand making knitwear anything but boring. The upcoming collaboration with actress Tilda Swinton is only further proof of that. Inspired by the global crises we find ourselves living in, Notes from the Precipice places us in a faux Garden of Eden — somewhere to both embrace the chaos and hide away from it. Collection highlights include emerald and ruby ruffled shoulder bags that read ‘Let Things Shake’, and a bright cerulean with Swinton’s slogan, ‘Make Friends with Chaos’. Though the pieces stand out by themselves, the campaign shoot and its set — painted by students from the local Birmingham School of Art —  is super cinematic and worth checking out, too. Pinterest-board-worthy knitwear with purpose, the only downside is that it doesn’t drop until the end of the month, but that only gives you more time to mull over what you’re going to buy. Keep an eye on the website here.

Finally, some footwear. Athleisure brand ALO operates on a studio-to-street, Pilates princess ethos, but their new trainer collection is a step in a new direction towards the great outdoors. The ALO Trail shoe is waterproof with oversized traction soles so it’s built for comfort and endurance, but has features like drawstring laces and a chunky gorp-core silhouette so it’s also super stylish. In true ALO fashion, the colour palette is extremely minimal, coming in white, gravel and black. It’s the perfect shoe for a morning hike followed by an afternoon pint, because it’s all about balance, right? Shop here.
