Who. What. Where? No. 138

First up this week, a boozy rec, because who isn’t looking to get a little merry this time of year? The team behind beloved Eastern Mediterranean restaurant chain Brother Marcus have blessed us with a little sibling called Kamara as an early Christmas present this year. Kamara takes everything we love about Brother Marcus — the warmth of the East Med, the rustic décor — but this time, they’re swapping calamari for cocktails and ambient lighting to create Soho’s sultriest new watering hole. They’ve also debuted a seasonal menu, featuring Greek twists on all our favourite festive classics. There’s a hot toddy with fermented figs, an old fashioned infused with biscuits and walnuts and even a Manhattan with aged apricots and Christmas spice. Delish.

Another festive rec for you down in Soho-ho-ho (sorry about that one). Sinéad O’Dwyer is hosting her WRAPPED festive pop-up at Light House, London’s hottest new boutique-cum-private members’ club, pioneered by none other than Agent Provocateur founder Joe Corré. O’Dwyer will be taking the opportunity to showcase highlights from her AW25 collection, Character Studies, which was inspired by prominent figures from the designer’s life, and encourages the wearer to reflect upon the memories of desire the garments conjure up. Both driven by intimacy and longevity, Corré and O’Dwyer really make the ultimate dream. And the Light House makes the perfect addition to the duo as it began as an antique store before Corré converted it into an intimate treasure trove of fashion and fetishwear. We’re so excited to see how Sinéad’s pieces illuminate the space. The event is open right up to Christmas Eve, so there’s no excuse not to pop your head in before the big day.

Speaking of intimate moments, folk-pop singer-songwriter Matt Hansen has concluded his year of sold-out shows by dropping a new track that will bring tears to the eyes of even the most frosty-hearted among you. ‘COMPASS’, in Hansen’s words, is about “the kind of love that keeps you centred”. At only twenty-four, the artist writes with a tenderness only someone who has loved and lost can understand. It’s a real tear jerker, and you can listen here. Better yet, nab tickets to see Hansen play ‘COMPASS’ live when he supports Dean Lewis early next year.

If you’ve not yet managed to get into the festive spirit, LaplandUK is here to help you quite literally step into Christmas. Here’s the DL: it’s a committed (four-hour-long) immersive experience, featuring a toy factory, gingerbread decorating and, of course, a trip to Santa’s grotto, because you’re never too old to sit on Father Christmas’ lap. Or maybe this is for kids. Yeah, that sounds more likely. Anyway, this year, LaplandUK takes place both in its usual home of Whitmoor Forest in Ascot, and newly in Capesthorne Hall in Cheshire. Grab tickets for both here.
