Who. What. Where? No. 137

Santa might not yet have come to town, but lucky for us Londoners, local designer Sinead Gorey has. The ultimate cool-girl brand is hosting its first ever stand-alone pop up just in time for Christmas party season, and there’s treats in store for everyone, naughty or nice. In case it’s somehow gone under your radar, the brand celebrates preserving nightlife culture — something we here at HUNGER are huge fans of — and modern femininity by giving maximalist layers and textures a luxurious edge. It’s couture made cheeky — and you can rest assured there’s a gift for yourself and every other 365 party girl in your posse waiting for you in store. The shop will be open from the 12-14 December at 353 Portobello Road, W10 5SA, or you can shop online here.

Now something for those of you who love both fashion and music in equal measure. It’s not winter without a fresh campaign from The North Face, and most recently the brand has teamed up with grime icon D Double E and DJ AG. This campaign is aptly named The Coldest Dub, and believe us when we say it’s freezing. They’ve invited emerging producers to remix an exclusive a capella track from D Double E, and chosen DJ AG to pick his faves and play them at Dalston’s Vision’s Nightclub this Friday (12 December). If you’re not lucky enough to be attending the event yourself, you’ll be happy to hear that those in attendance will get to pick a winner, whose track will be released through D Double E’s own record label in a rare 50/50 royalty split. Cold.

Speaking of parties, London based record label, Eglo, is hosting the ultimate end of year celebration this Friday (12th December) in Peckham’s iconic Carpet Shop. With local legend Yazmin Lacey featuring as the special guest, and a late-night DJ set from Alex Nut amongst others, this is set to be the underground music event of the season. Think drinks, dancing, and all-round good vibes from 11-4. Delicious. Score yourself a ticket here.

If December is looking a little busy for you, we’ve got one last thing for you music lovers to look forward to in the new year. Brick Lane Jazz Festival is celebrating its 5th birthday next April, and they’ve just dropped the names of all their headliners. We’re looking at American jazz-funk legend Brian Jackson playing some of his classics, and a UK debut of the collab between French Sengalese singer anaiis and bossa nova Brazilian trio Grupo Cosmo. You know we love to champion local talent here at HUNGER, so trust us when we say, the festival spotlights plenty of emerging Londoners, too. The third headliner, London jazz champion Joe Armon-Jones, will be tinkling the ivories alongside a whole host of other artists supported by local organisations Jazz re:freshed and Tomorrow’s Warriors. We can’t think of a better way to kick off the festival season. Grab day passes and full-weekend tickets here.
