Who. What. Where? No. 105

Welcome to HUNGER’s Who. What. Where? Your one stop shop for all the latest and greatest upcoming cultural must-knows and tip-offs.

What do you get when design houses and actual houses meet? A collaboration between Swedish clothing brand CDLP and interior-architect guru Robert Stilin, of course. Together, they’ve taken CDLP’s core collection and reimagined it to incorporate the New York-based architect’s USP of elegance and utility. To reflect that, the new t-shirts and tanks include sage, lilac, lemongrass and cement colourways, made with CDLP’s special recipe of Lyocell and prima cotton to make them extra durable — like for a hard day’s work of designing for the Carters (yep, one of Stilin’s celeb clients). We’re kind of obsessed with the actual campaign, too — it’s shot at the architect’s Brooklyn pad – a converted warehouse, actually – and it’s super aesthetically pleasing. Check it out and grab a tee here.

Over in Barcelona (we’re serving international this week), Onitsuka Tiger has just opened its first flagship store in the city. Located on the Passeig de Gràcia, the space was designed by the esteemed STUDIODINICATALDI to blend the modern aesthetics of Tokyo and the classic elegance of Barca. The real star of the show, though, is the shoe brand’s new special edition of the Mexico 66 trainer. You can only get your paws on them (ha) at the Barcelona store, so if you’re over there, go check it out. If you’re stuck in London like the rest of us, maybe just grab yourself a regular pair?

Spring is well and truly on its way (thank God) and, alas, the Affordable Art Fair Battersea is back with its seasonal edition. If you’re not familiar with the concept, it’s a place you can go and buy art without bankrupting yourself. Go figure. Anyway, amongst the fair’s many offerings, there’s a new installation from London-based artist Margaux Carpentier, as well as a display dedicated to female artists in celebration of Women’s History Month. It starts today and lasts until 16 March, and you can grab yourself a ticket here.

Another ode to the season comes in the form of The Jazz Café’s spring lineup. Kicking off with Madame Jazz Birthday on 8 March (a celebration of female Jazz pioneers), there’s a hot lineup of everything from hip-hop to Brazilian electronic spanning ‘til May. Selects include Mercury-nominated UK Garage master MJ Cole on 19 April, poet-musician Jamila Woods on 22 April and Neo-Soul visionary Bilal on 3 May. Check out the full lineup here.

Elsewhere in music, Michi has released her debut album Dirty Talk and it’s vibey as hell. It’s the aftermath of the “Playing Pretend” singer’s move from LA to a small seaside town, where she found her “natural emotional circadian rhythm” after a shit breakup. In other words, the album’s got a dreamy and soothing retro feel to it. It’s giving relaxing. It’s giving healed. It’s giving just listen to it.

Last, we have a three-week kitchen takeover at Albie (the Hoxton Southwark’s lobby restaurant). Dubbed Hot Plates, the event is running through March and April and sees three burgeoning chefs take over the kitchen. From Helen Graham’s (former Executive Chef at Bubala) Middle Eastern veggie menu to mother-daughter duo Priya and Sudha Gujarati dishes to Uncle Hon’s Chinese BBQ fusion, it’s going to be a hotbed of feasting and (Gin Mare) cocktail drinking, and you’re going to want a seat at the table.
