The Goat — Featuring Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami

Welcome to HUNGER’s The Goat, where we let you in on all the hottest drops and new releases. Less hype, more the things you actually need on your radar.

LV’s kicking off 2025 with a proper throwback, tapping Zendaya to front their revival of the iconic Murakami collab. Fresh off her tennis drama Challengers, she’s serving up serious Y2K energy with the collection that defined an era. We’re talking the return of that Multicolore monogram (you know, the one that had every It girl in a chokehold back in ’03) splashed across everything from the classic Speedy to modern bits like the OnTheGo. There’s even a cheeky Superflat Panda making a comeback. Landing today, January 3rd, this one’s set to be the first major fashion moment of 2025.

ASICS is keeping that Y2K running tech revival going strong with two new colourways of the GEL-KAYANO 20. While this silhouette might have started life as a long-distance runner back in 2013, it’s had quite the fashion glow-up lately — just ask JJJJound and Kiko Kostadinov, who recently unveiled their own take on the cult-y trainer. And these brand spanking new colourways? Leading the pack is this mental Neptune Blue number that’s gone all-in on ocean vibes, with subtle hits of green and violet that make the black overlays look a bit like they’re floating. If that’s a bit much for your rotation, there’s also this clean black and silver version that’s keeping things very sophisticated with just a touch of royal blue peeking through. They both drop on the 17th of this month both online and in select stores.

If your New Year’s Eve peaked somewhere between a dodgy karaoke rendition of Auld Lang Syne and waking up still wearing your party hat, we reckon we’ve found a much classier way to mark new beginnings. Swatch has just dropped two timepieces for the Year of the Snake, and they’re giving us all the luck we need for 2025. The star of the show? A golden number with this smart ivory strap that’s got embroidered bamboo and a subtle snake motif weaving through it. If that’s not your vibe, there’s a larger blue and gold piece that’s equally slick. Both come with glow-in-the-dark hands because Swatch knows we’re still out here living our best lives after dark. Available now, but you know the drill with these lunar releases — they’ll slither away sharpish.

And it’s not just Swatch getting in on the Lunar New Year action. Stone Island is also bringing their technical wizardry to celebrate the Year of the Snake with a collection that’s all about transformation — fitting given the whole shedding their skin malarkey. Each piece comes in their signature nylon metal fabric, done up in either silver or black with swooping red details that feel refreshingly subtle for a CNY drop. The standout has to be this jacket with detachable sleeves, but the whole range is nothing short of comprehensive, with everything from hooded sweats to messenger bags making an appearance. For now, it’s only dropping in select stores, but word is it might make its way to global retailers soon. We’ll keep you posted on that one.

This one’s a bit of a change of pace from trainers and collabs, but we’ve got to shout out Nicola Dinan’s second novel, given she graced the pages of HUNGER’s issue thirty. Disappoint Me follows her massive debut Bellies, and trust us, it’s anything but a sophomore slump. The story follows Max, a corporate lawyer slash published poet who happens to be trans, as she navigates success, creative expression, and a love life that’s seen better days. After a messy night out leads to an accident, she’s forced to face up to some hard truths. It’s smart, it’s sharp, and let’s be real — this could be the first (of about three) books you actually log on Goodreads this year.
