Chanel just built a skate ramp in Covent Garden — and we’re here for it?

Looking for something more interesting to do than idling hanging out at The Spurstowe? It’s over to CHANEL, who’ve just built a glorified skate park in Covent Garden. Why? Well, apparently they decided that what London’s beauty scene was really missing was the sweet sound of wheels on concrete while you contemplate which shade of red best matches your outfit.

The ROUGE COCO PLAYGROUND runs from March 21st to 30th, featuring daily skateboarding performances where (rather cool) people do kickflips while maintaining perfect lip liner. It’s exactly the type of unexpected luxury activation that sounds ridiculous on paper but will probably end up all over your Instagram feed anyway.

The pop-up celebrates their Rouge Coco lipstick range in what they’re calling a “breezy beach scene,” because nothing says “relaxing day at the beach” like central London at peak hours. Visitors can play games, create their own “Coco Ride video” (whatever that means), and enjoy complimentary sorbet, which actually sounds quite nice after navigating Covent Garden crowds.
For those wanting more than just watching skaters while eating ice cream, there’s a 60-minute makeup service (£60) or a 75-minute masterclass (£45), both redeemable against products if you decide to buy something afterward.

The whole thing is delightfully weird and exactly the type of experience that makes London’s beauty scene more interesting than most. Only in Covent Garden could skateboarding and luxury beauty products coexist so seamlessly — and honestly, we’re kind of into it.
