All the viral moments from the 2025 Grammys
From Bianca Censori stripping off on the red carpet to Chappell Roan riding a giant pink pony, the Grammys 2025 offered a stream of viral moments straight from LA.
Bianca Censori turns up naked
If you woke up in the UK this morning, you were probably greeted by a picture of Kanye West’s wife, Bianca Censori, naked on the red carpet during your obligatory morning Insta scroll. Okay, the Yeezy designer and model wasn’t completely in the buff, but, with just a sheer bit of fabric on, she might as well have been. Of course, it isn’t the first time the thirty-year-old stepped out in something outrageous — last year, Censori rocked up to Paris Fashion Week with sheer tights on and no knickers, before stepping out shoeless with her husband a month or so later. While nudity on the red carpet isn’t exactly ideal, this isn’t us throwing shade on Censori. To be honest, it’s all a bit concerning given all the accusations about Ye turning his much younger wife into a radicalised version of almost-identical ex Kim K. Icky.
Charli XCX brings BRAT back
It’s been almost a year since the singer dropped “Von Dutch”, the first single from the album that characterised summer 2024. It’s apt, then, that XCX made her debut Grammy’s performance last night, which very much lived up to our expectations. In the spirit of the “360” music video – which featured all the internal it-girls of the moment – XCX got her mates Julia Fox, Alex Consani and Gabbriette to join in on the act. It kicked off with the singer pulling up in black SUV (sporting a “XCX” number plate) outside the Crypto.com Arena, where she began her performance al fresco with “Von Dutch”. She then took the party inside to perform “Guess”, where everyone chucked around garms in homage to the corresponding music video, made alongside Billie Eilish. Everyone’s been saying XCX’s performance could be the best yet from the Grammys, and it’s absolutely no surprise BRAT was awarded three awards.
Sabrina Carpenter swigs from a hip flask
The “Please Please Please” singer didn’t just come to the Grammys with six nominations — she also came with a hip flask that perfectly matched her custom JW Anderson dress (think gold and decked out in jewels). While everyone sat with champagne glasses, there Carpenter sat swigging from her personal drinking vessel like the icon she is. It’s the same cheekiness that earned the Pennsylvania-born singer the award for best Pop Vocal Album and best Pop Solo Performance. Case in point? Her renditions of “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” from Short n’ Sweet on the stage last night. Immaculate outfits and immaculate vibes all round.
Jaden Smith wears a doll’s house on his head
We’re not really sure what to say about this one but, essentially, the actor-slash-rapper sported a miniature gothic castle on the red carpet. On his head. Currently there’s no insight into why Smith decided to don the accessory. Maybe he’s hinting at an upcoming project, or maybe he felt a breeze on his head as he was stepping out the door and grabbed the first thing to hand. Unlikely given it was actually a custom design by ABODI, and can be bought on the designer’s site for £4,500. If you aren’t familiar with Dora Abodi’s brand, its USP is “baroque futurism”, which kind of checks out when you look at Smith’s so-called Vampire Castle headpiece.
Doechii does it for the gals
Since the Floridian rapper dropped “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” to a viral reception on TikTok in 2021, Doechii has been getting undeniably cooler by the day. I mean, just look at her performance on Colbert, come on. Anyway, last night, the artist won her first (but probably not last) Grammy for her album, Alligator Bites Never Heal. It was pretty emotional — Cardi B announced the award, Doechii burst into tears and the rapper gave a heart-felt speech. In the midst of discussing her sobriety and religious beliefs, Doechii mentioned how, since the category for Best Rap Album dropped in 1989, she’s only the third woman to win. While that’s undeniably messed up, we’re chuffed Doechii of all people is shining a torch for women in rap.
Chappell Roan does two outfit changes and rides a pink pony
If there’s one thing Chappell Roan can be described as, it’s extra as fuck. After turning up to the ceremony wearing vintage Jean Paul Gaultier that emulated Marie Antoinette (complete with a feathered head piece), the singer swapped into a metal corset — which seemed to pay homage to fellow French icon Joan of Arc if she were into drag — for her performance of “Pink Pony Club”. It’s then that Roan hopped onto an absolutely enormous pink pony, and strutted around the stage doing her thing. After, she changed once again into some medieval-princess-looking garb to accept her award for Best New Artist, where she read from her diary and absolutely roasted the music industry. Well, she had to match telling a photographer to “shut the fuck up” at last year’s VMAs somehow.
