Aggy K. Adams is embracing all possibilities

Aggy K. Adams is the ultimate cool girl. She can often be found rocking impossibly messy-yet-chic auburn hair, posting pictures of her friends and travels amongst casting announcements and trendy memes — think: Martin Scorsese’s ‘This is cinema’ — all while running around set in scrubs or elf ears. What makes the actor even cooler, though, is her decidedly niche entrance into the industry. Far from the world of Hollywood nepo babies or child actors, the thirty year old broke onto the scene as the titular Ramona in the 2019 Romanian comedy Oh, Ramona!, a controversial coming-of-age film where Adams plays the alluring, mysterious love interest. Since, the Poland native has played Iskra in Netflix favourite The Witcher (a role to which she’ll soon return), and now, she’s embodying an equally intriguing character: Mia, in the latest season of the dark, erotic drama The Couple Next Door.
In the Channel 4 show, Mia enters the scene and creates a capricious love triangle between a married couple at her work: surgeon Charlotte Roberts (Annabel Scholey) and consultant anaesthetist Jacob (Sam Palladio). As Mia involves herself more in the couple’s life, she finds herself amid the wrath of a vengeful colleague, while being chased by her own past. But beyond The Couple Next Door, Adams is readying herself for a flurry of upcoming projects. And, perhaps, even a foray into the fashion world. But wherever her path leads, the actor remains humbly receptive to being amazed, scared and thrilled by the journey.

Francesca Ionescu: With the second season of The Couple Next Door having just come to an end, what do you think attracts audiences to the show?
Aggy K. Adams: I think the show is intriguing and full of unexpected twists — it really thrills the audience.
FI: Mia’s character arc covers a lot of tough topics. What was your experience like of playing someone so troubled yet mysterious?
AA: It was incredibly challenging in the best possible way. Mia has so many layers and I loved exploring her background. It was very emotionally demanding to play someone who has been psychologically abused, so that part was tough, but a very enriching acting experience.

FI: As an actress with experience of very different genres, what drew you to this erotic drama?
AA: I really always saw it as a psychological drama and I just love exploring human experiences and emotions. The possibilities are infinite!
FI: Do you think the hospital setting affects the audience’s perception of the characters in any way?
AA: I hope the show being set in a hospital made it more interesting. Maybe it raised the stakes to be more life and death!
FI: Do you think there is more to Mia’s story that might get explored in the future? Will she keep chasing couples around Antwerp?
AA: I would love to keep exploring Mia’s story. I think her love for Charlotte sparked a change but I think she’ll repeat the patterns a few more times before making a real change. Perhaps the couple in Antwerp is her next stop!

FI: If your instagram is anything to go by, the vibe behind the scenes was a lot of fun. What is your favourite memory on set?
AA: The surgeries were a lot of fun! Being in the operating theatre really felt like performing in a real theatre.
FI: Did your personal style affect Mia’s styling in the show at all?
AA: I’d say our only crossover was the classic vintage jacket, otherwise we are very different.
FI: Talking about personal style, how would you describe yours in a few words?
AA: Chaos! Messy! But I hope it comes across as cool.
FI: What are the key brands that have shaped the way you dress?
AA: I’m new to fashion but I love Chanel, Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, Acne but also thrift stores or vintage curations. I love to feel that someone has put thought into designing and creating a clothing piece; it feels like art.

FI: Would you ever consider stepping into the fashion world alongside your acting? What would be your dream way to do that?
AA: I would definitely consider it. I’ve started observing what creative directors do with their brands and how they create interesting narratives and carry strong messages. If something aligns with me and what I stand for, I would definitely love to collaborate with a fashion house.
FI: With a few international projects under your belt already, are there any directors outside of the UK that you hope to work with in the future?
AA: Absolutely! I love European and American directors alike, so the bucket list is long, but Luca Guadagnino is at the top right now. I feel like he’s my spirit animal.
FI: Tell me a bit about your next project, The Witcher? How does it feel to be part of a show with such a dedicated fanbase?
AA: It’s so exciting that The Witcher is finally out this year! It’s been an incredible experience working on it and I can’t wait for the fans to see what we’ve made with it!

FI: If you could keep one element of Iskra’s look in real life, what would you keep?
AA: I really want to be Iskra in real life, so I did keep her elf ears (shh, don’t tell anyone). I would absolutely love to have her beautiful green coat and big hair.
FI: With 2026 approaching scarily fast, what do you think the next year will bring for you?
AA: It is terrifying, I can’t believe it’s already coming to the end of 2025. I honestly have no idea what will happen in 2026, which is amazing. I love to feel open to all possibilities, but it can be scary.
