The Goat — Featuring Sturla

Welcome to HUNGER’s The Goat, where we let you in on all the hottest drops and new releases. Less hype, more the things you actually need on your radar.

Did you know that Liberty is turning one hundred and fifty this year? And that they’ve brought in former Gucci creative director Frida Giannini to design a special range to celebrate? Didn’t think so. Dubbed Hypernova 150, it’s a capsule collection that reimagines Liberty’s heritage with a rock-y edge. There’s Velvet Nelson coats with naval tailoring à la The Libertines, reworked archival Liberty-print dresses and metallic Union Jack silk pyjamas. Fittingly, Giannini drew inspiration from Carnaby Street, which is literally right around the corner from the department store, channeling the countercultural spirit of the area into each and every piece. It’s British legacy meets Italian luxury, which is a bloody good combination if you ask me.

Need a bag for autumn? Well, good news: Baggy London, the accessory brand that’s grabbed the attention of many including our Issue 33 cover star Juno Temple, is imminently launching its leather bag collection. The perfect combination of chic and cute, the dark brown, black and blue colourways are perfect for this time of year. They still have Baggy’s signature ruffle, though, don’t worry. The brand was founded with a mind to create accessories that stand out while also being effortlessly cool, and I have to say they know what they’re doing.

Another thing that’s absolutely essential at this time of year is having a gorgeous candle to burn during a cosy night in. That doesn’t mean, however, it has to be one of those disgusting pumpkin spice ones. We have a much cooler alternative for you. DISCOTHÈQUE has just released its Remezzo and La Grotta candles. As always, they’re inspired by iconic party venues, the former representing its namesake in Mykonos (which has been open since the sixties) through heart notes of saffron, sage and amber; the latter channelling the Corfu-based bar from the noughties through labdanum, rosemary, saffron and guaic wood. The best part about these candles, though, is they really do bring the party vibe (the brand’s all about burning the candle at both ends, so to speak), so you could just sack off the night in and burn it while you’re getting ready to go out instead…

Speaking of, we’re coming up to party season (I got my first Christmas party invite of the year yesterday, which is a bit frightening). To meet all your seasonal sparkle needs, if you’re a millionaire that is, Dior has released the latest addition to its Couture collection, which includes three stunning pieces: a ring, earrings and a velvet-trimmed choker. Giving an almost lace-like appearance, the collection is made in a filigree style, which is a first for the maison and makes it extra special. Think: floral motifs inspired by Christian Dior’s love for gardens, both marquise and brilliant-cut diamonds, plus a whole lot of sparkle.

On a less traditional side of luxury, Champagne Telmont has teamed up with French sunnies brand Shelter Manufacture to create something pretty unique: sunglasses made from upcycled grape by-products. Specifically, the limited-edition specs are made from acetate infused with eight percent grape marc (that’s what’s left over once the grapes have been pressed) from the 2024 harvest, making them completely plastic-free and exactly the type of thing posh people adore. It’s always nice to feel like you’re doing good while looking good. And, if you’re doing things right, also feeling good from a nice glass of Champagne Telmont.

On that note, there’s a new sustainable brand on the scene: Sturla. Each of its Crypsis Felt Accessories (i.e. bags) is handmade through a time-intensive felting process using surplus fabrics and repurposed military parachutes, of all things, meaning every single one is genuinely one of a kind. The collection features three models — the Pack Away Carrier, the Half Moon Pouch and the Isopod Bag — each of which are oozing with character and the type of soul that mass-produced accessories will never have no matter how hard they try.
