Get ready to do a gnarly kick flip in Balenciaga’s new skate wear capsule

The brand returns to business as usual following last year’s controversy.

So it seems Balenciaga is officially back to business as usual following their hiatus last year with their recent skatewear-inspired drop.

As Balenciaga looks to get itself back in the good graces of the public, the brand dropped a new graffiti-focused skate-inspired capsule. Showcasing the brand’s signature boxy aesthetic, the capsule features oversized t-shirts, hoodies, long-sleeves and sweatpants. The capsule sees spray paint-like graphics adorn the t-shirts and sweatpants, alongside the signature “BB” logo and additional patterning.

Under the new skatewear theme, the varsity Balenciaga logo comes front and centre. Embracing the carefree and comfort-first style of the skate community, the baggy hoodies come with a distressed finish. T-shirts and sweatshirts arrive in blue, black and grey, while the hoodie and long-sleeves arrive in classic black and white colourways.

Balenciaga may be embracing the skater aesthetic, but if you were to purchase sweatpants for $1,850 or a tee for $1,350, attempting a kickflip is probably the last thing on your mind.

But it seems like the skatewear drop is just the start of a return to prominence for Balenciaga. Even Kim Kardashian – who publicly distanced herself from the brand – has jumped back on the Balenciaga bandwagon with a number of looks from a recent trip to Japan, including her viral Kill Bill-inspired look.
