A new fan-modified MSCHF Big Red Boot just dropped – and fans actually love them

The controversial BRB got a hot custom job and style fanatics are calling them “fashion gold”.

We all know by now how controversial the Big Red Boot by MSCHF is. The initial pair sported a now rather iconic cartoonish silhouette in a bright red colour – simple and hype-worthy, but infamously divisive. A Timberland ‘Wheat Nutbuck’ version followed, and a runner completed a marathon in them. We then got the Crocs iteration, which transformed the shoe into a clog collaboration with holes on the front, a permanent sport-mode fastening, and a rubber-duck yellow colour. Again, opinions were split. But now an updated version of the BRB has got a new group of style fans on the oversized boot train.

We don’t know if it’s exposure therapy or the handy custom job at work, but we too, aren’t mad about the new Chrome Hearts pair of boots. It’s all thanks to the work of South Korean-born artist, rapper, and fashion designer MeLoveMeALot, who customised a pair of the OG MSCHF BRBs to wedge into her own aesthetic. Often opting for a gothic, fantastical, ‘Angel of the Darkness’ type of vibe, the creative posted a video on her Instagram account showing the process in which she customised the shoes.

She begins with a hot poker, sizzling holes into the sides inspired by the signature Chrome Hearts cross outlined around. Then comes the glossy black paint, with silver cross embellishments placed on the centre and sides, finishing with a branded version of the Skoot logo on the bottom – the brand she co-founded with Koh V.

Commenters on the post were in awe, stating, “Everything she touches turns to fashion gold.” Another says “I hate these but she made these 100 times better,” with additional users claiming “Now I would wear… these go hard.” Perhaps this signifies a new era for fashion’s most-hated shoe.
