Who. What. Where? No. 129

Jouissance, the fragrance house known for its sensual approach to scent, has just launched an online bookshop — and it’s exactly what you’d expect from a brand called Jouissance (Google what it means in French). Its founder Cherry Cheng is an avid book collector and has curated a selection of first and collectible editions spanning literature, erotic classics and art books, culminating in what she calls “our secret library”. As a scent brand inspired by erotic literature, there’s another reason Cheng has selected vintage books — it’s intended to stimulate your sense of smell and, in turn, some other senses, too… Sexy stuff. Have a flick through the library here.

Dancing is, perhaps, the next best way to get your blood pumping. However, London has probably been in need of a new club for a while. Good news, though — a swanky joint called 77 has opened underneath The BoTree in Marylebone. You know it’s the real deal because Kerri Chandler and Skepta kicked off the opening weekend. And the rest of the line-up stands up, too. The likes of Pan-Pot, Derrick Carter, Deep Dish, David Morales and Detroit’s Omar S are set to perform between now and December. On top of that, the cult London radio platform, No Signal, is taking over every Thursday in October for Black History Month as of tomorrow. If you need more confirmation that 77 is going to become a go-to music venue, you can rest easy knowing it’s being led by veterans from Rinse FM, Tao Group and KOKO. Get a ticket here and see for yourself.

We love art here at HUNGER, but one thing we love even more is a little tipple. St-Rémy and French visual artist Tomalater have brought those elements together for a limited-edition XO bottle of the brandy. Tasty though it might be, you’re going to want to display it for as long as possible — wrapped in Tomalater’s signature geometric style, in this case inspired by the French architecture that informs St-Rémy’s blends, it’s pretty much a work of art in itself. Grab your XO bottle (slash new ornament) here.

Finally, south-London-based festival GALA is celebrating a decade with a global club tour. Landing in Amsterdam’s Lofl on 28 November with Rush Hour, the lineup is stacked: Berlin’s Marcel Dettmann is playing a rare house set, Peach and Pearson Sound are reuniting for their second ever back-to-back and GALA residents Prosumer, Antal, Richard Akingbehin, plus Rush Hour’s Kléo will complete the bill. After, there’ll be an eclectic mix of stops in Tokyo, Bristol, São Paulo and Berlin. But, for now, we’re bothered about Amsterdam. Get your tickets here, party people.
