Who. What. Where? No. 111

Welcome to HUNGER’s Who. What. Where? Your one stop shop for all the latest and greatest upcoming cultural must-knows and tip-offs.

The culture vultures among you might be interested to know that this year marks 99 years of the UK’s leading dance company, Rambert. In the lead up to their centenary celebration, they’re putting on a range of brand new and OG pieces. Among them is Bring Your Own, a collab between Rambert and French collective (LA)HORDE. It’ll be the first time (LA)HORDE takes their repertoire pieces, Weather is Sweet and Room with a View out of Marseille, so that’s exciting, isn’t it? Vibe-wise, you can expect neon lights and a nod to the LA club scene in the former, and a confronting exploration of what matters in life in the latter — very existential. If that sounds like a bit of you, you can get a ticket to see the show between 7 and 10 May at the Southbank Centre here.

Summer is coming, which means any excuse for a drink and a boogie goes. And what better reason for a party than south-east London’s fave showcase, The Peckham Renaissance. Back for the third year running, some of London’s most exciting upcoming talents will play, with a special focus on celebrating Black nightlife. And you know it’s going to be good because the line-up has been picked by Dankie Sounds (sneak peeks include Mercedes Benson and DJ Melzi). It’s also super community orientated, taking place at one of the area’s most iconic venues, Prince of Peckham, across four Fridays this June. What’s more, the whole thing is sponsored by Hennessy, so the drinks are set to be as good as the tunes. Tickets drop tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime, sign up for updates here

We always like to use WWW as an opportunity to put some new tunes on your radar. This week? Olamide’s new release with Wizkid, “Kai!”, which comes from the former’s self-titled album slated for June. Sound-wise it sits somewhere between rap and Afrobeats and, honestly, it’s just great vibes. “Kai!” is also accompanied by a cheeky little music video set in Atlanta’s notorious strip club, Magic City, but with a ’50s noir twist. Give “Kai!” a listen here.

Last, we have one for the beauty lovers. Chanel has opened a pop-up in Shoreditch in homage to their new Chance Eau Splendide fragrance. Open from now until 5 May, you can pop down to check out the new scent, play some games or even get your makeup done in a Chance-inspired look. Or simply take a gander down to see the pop-up’s massive purple graffiti mural (spoiler alert, the new fragrance is also purple), which is very hashtag insta-worthy. Get more info here.
