Who. What. Where? No. 100
The eagle-eyed of you will remember that last week’s WWW kicked off with Krept & Konan’s new supermarket, Saveways. Well, the rap duo have made the top spot on our roundup once again with the release of their hotly-anticipated album, Young Kingz II. It’s pretty much a full circle moment from when the pair dropped Young Kingz twelve years ago. When we spoke to Krept for Issue 32, the rapper said the album would be filled with “good music” and “good vibes”, and he was looking forward to “people hearing the growth”. Well, the time has (almost) come, folks — Young Kingz II will finally be landing on Friday, and you can pre-save it here. To tide you over, though, the duo are dropping a new single from the album tomorrow — it’s called “Kilimanjaro” and features the Nigerian singer and songwriter Oxlade. It’s also got a sick video to go with it, so keep your eyes peeled.
Next up, we have some art to put on your radar. Recent graduate of the Tracey Emin Artist Residency Bianca Raffaella is exhibiting her first major solo show at the Flowers Gallery in London. Titled Faint Memories, the show features a series of floral and abstract paintings that capture moments in the partially-sighted artist’s vision. Since that often comes in the form of faint shadows or flickers of light for the Kingston Uni Visual Arts graduate, her paintings have a sense of transience that make them super unique. On top of that, the expo touches on the beauty of braille (how Raffaella first learnt to read and write), which ties in with her use of texture — a key part of the painter’s USP. The show opens on 12 February and lasts for a month. Get more info here.
Hopping back over to music, we have a new supergroup on the scene. Hip-hop artist yasiin bey has teamed up with DJ The Alchemist to create FORENSICS, who’ll be livestreaming their eponymous debut record on Friday (7 February) via Bandcamp. It’s actually the latest in a hefty list of collaborations for The Alchemist, who’s worked with everyone from Eminem to Mobb Deep. It’s also only the second project yasiin bey has put out since his five-year music hiatus (the first being last year’s Money Christmas EP), so the release is kind of a hot commodity. And that’s especially true since the EP proper won’t drop on streaming platforms until spring. It could all be the start of something pretty big, actually — FORENSICS is going to be releasing vinyls, fashion merch, artwork and fan experiences. Exciting. Check out the livestream here.
Lastly, we have a brand new exhibition at the Tiwani Contemporary in London. A Conscious Relation: body/mind/movement is a group expo by a roster of the gallery’s artists ahead of their solo shows this year. At the heart of the exhibit is the idea of sovereignty — but as an embodied experience as much as a political one. With that in mind, it covers themes of identity, heritage and displacement. There’s also a special ode to the late artist Alicia Henry — who passed away last October 2024 — whose textural (think: hand-stitched fabric, hessian and wood) sculptures tackle the concepts of social relations and kinship. There’s a special opening tomorrow night before the expo opens properly on Saturday (8 February). Get all the deets here.
