Asher Angel won’t compromise on authenticity for clout

“I see myself as part of a generation redefining creativity,” Asher Angel says. “There are more ways than ever to connect with audiences and I want to bring something fresh.” So far, the actor-slash-musician has had the chance to
fulfil this ambition in the Disney Channel’s series Andi Mack and as the teenage Billy Batson in the DC film Shazam!, to name just a couple of the 22-year-old’s ventures.
Despite Angel’s ambitions, he isn’t someone to compromise his authenticity for a bit of clout. “I try to focus on being the best version of myself rather than chasing perfection,” the “alternate ending” singer (who has new country-pop music on the horizon) says. “I remind myself that authenticity is what connects with people.”

As it happens, “connection” is a bit of a buzzword for the artist. He posits that the
ones he shares with his family and friends are what him level-headed. “It’s all about surrounding myself with the right people. Ambition drives me, but staying grounded comes from remembering why I started in the first place.”
