All the viral moments from the 2025 Golden Globes
And just like that the Golden Globes have been and gone for 2025. It doesn’t seem two minutes since the image of Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet PDA-ing at last year’s ceremony was burnt into the internet’s collective memory, but alas, here we are. Host Nikkie Glaser kicked things off by mugging off most of the audience (the US sense of humour just never hits right, does it?), which set the tone for a slightly strange evening in LA’s Beverly Hilton Hotel. From Zoe Saldana’s stage crash to a continuation of Vin Diesel and The Rock’s years-long beef, these are the most viral moments from this year’s Golden Globes.
Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet snog (again)
Once again, Kylie Jenner and her beau Timothée Chalamet were seen whispering sweet nothings and snapping pics of each other on digi cams (how edgy). It’s been exactly a year since the couple – which someone once hilariously compared to a Bratz doll dating a chess piece – made their debut public appearance at last year’s ceremony, and Chalamet seems to be enchanting the beauty mogul and literal billionaire with his Wonka magic as much as ever. Their appearance also put a firm stop to the short-lived rumours circulating the TikToksphere about Jenner being pregnant with a mini Timmy after she posted a shopping-haul video, where she could be seen covering her stomach with a pink plastic bag. A bit of a reach but fun while it lasted.
2024’s lookalike competitions make a return
As well as garnering attention for his girlfriend and “eyelash”-like moustache (one of Glaser’s genius quips) Timothée Chalamet also reunited with Miles Mitchell (a.k.a the guy who won the actor’s lookalike competition back in October) on the red carpet. We say reunited because, if you recall, Chalamet actually crashed the event, resulting in the police being called to disperse the “unpermitted costume contest”. Mitchell didn’t turn up to the Golden Globes alone, though. Instead, he was joined by the bloke who won the Glen Powell lookalike competition in Texas. Of course, he too got to meet the real deal in the flesh at the awards ceremony — and his mum for some reason.
Zendaya is (maybe) getting hitched
Currently it’s all speculation but there’s no denying that Zendaya rocked up – pardon the pun – to the red carpet with a fat diamond on her ring finger. Does this mean she’s tying the knot with her long-term boyfriend, Tom Holland, or was she just adding some additional flare to her admittedly divine Louis Vuitton getup? Who knows. To be fair, though, the Spiderman actor admitted literally a couple of days ago that he plans to “literally disappear” from acting when the time comes to be a dad — so it does seem like the couple are at least thinking about getting a bit more serious.
Andrew Garfield films a bunch of thirst traps
Somewhere else in the Spiderman universe, Andrew Garfield has been making the rounds online with a series of thirst traps he filmed at the ceremony. From the moment he stepped onto the red carpet and started twiddling with his low-cut shirt to the time he stared into the camera very intensely while putting on his glasses à la fuckboy filming a TikTok, Garfield seemed pretty intent on being the sexiest male star of the night. It kind of worked to be fair.
Miley Cyrus brought rich widow energy
Obviously Miley Cyrus isn’t a widow but she is divorced so that’s close enough. Either way, the ol’ trope of the rich widow came to mind when the Flowers singer turned up in a black Celine dress and dark AF sunglasses. The nineties-style spiky updo also brought a nice dose of anachronism to the Globes and made it feel a little bit like an early Hannah Montana premiere for a second. There isn’t much more to it than that but the internet is kind of obsessed with this look and that’s honestly valid.
Demi Moore makes her “popcorn actress” speech
On a wholesome note, Demi Moore’s speech after winning the award for Best Actress in The Substance was a bit of a tear-jerker. For those who’ve seen the body horror, it’s undeniably one of the grossest films from modern times. It’s also really bloody good, and it’s not surprising that the actor nabbed her first ever award during her forty-five-year career for the movie. In the speech, she talks about thinking she’d only be what a director once dubbed as a “popcorn actress” and how, after an almost half-century career, she’s finally been able to prove everyone wrong. Persistence really does pay off, ey? As well as the speech, a really cute video of Moore’s family reacting to the announcement is also making the rounds.
Zoe Soldana crashes the stage
After winning her award for Best Supporting Female Actor in Emilia Pérez, Zoe Soldana got a teeny bit overexcited and crashed the stage while musicians Clément Ducol and Camille Audiard were being awarded for a track they wrote for Emilia Pérez. It was a bit of a weird moment, with Soldana actually taking the award off Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Yeoh – who were meant to be presenting the award – probably in a bid to do so herself. In her defence, Soldana does sing the song in question so she might have gotten confused. Nevertheless, people online have been kicking off a fair bit, saying she’s taken attention away from the composers. Some are even comparing it to when rapper Lil Mama crashed Jay Z and Alicia Keys’ performance at the 2009 VMA’s. Whatever prompted Soldana to get back up there, it was a bit awks we have to say.
Vin Diesel gets weird with The Rock
It’s well known that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Vin Diesel have been less than BFFs since they clashed on the set of The Fate of the Furious, and the latter ultimately left the franchise because of it. But, when Diesel got on stage to present an award, he strangely decided to look Johnson right in the eye and say ‘hi’ to him before getting on with his speech. The Rock responded with a smile – which lasted about half a second – before his face dropped to reveal his true feelings (fuming). Sadly, there was no Will-Smith-Chris-Rock-style slap after, but it was definitely a weird one and encapsulated pretty well.
