Adidas, Arsenal, and Labrum London Launch African-Inspired 2024/25 Away Kit

Adidas and Arsenal have partnered with Labrum London to launch a vibrant new away kit for the 2024/25 season, celebrating the club's rich African heritage and cultural connections.

In a celebration of cultural heritage, Adidas and Arsenal have teamed up with Labrum London to release a new African-inspired away kit for the 2024/25 season. This innovative design highlights the club’s deep connections to the African diaspora, both in London and globally.

Labrum London has crafted a striking kit featuring a black base with a unique white zig-zag graphic. This pattern, inspired by African design traditions, symbolizes the movement and flow of people. The intricate design, incorporating black specks representing Cowrie shells, nods to their historical role as currency in parts of Africa.

Arsenal legend Nwankwo Kanu expressed his pride in the new design, which resonates with the club’s African heritage and its supporters. “I love how the patterns and colors represent our connection to players of African descent and our communities in Islington and around the world,” Kanu said. “It’s great to see us celebrating this unique connection with such a stylish design.”

The kit also integrates traditional pan-African colors—red and green—across the collar, the Adidas three stripes, the logo, and the Arsenal cannon, creating a visual tribute to the club’s cultural ties.

Sam Handy, SVP of Product and Design at Adidas, praised the collaboration with Labrum London for authentically capturing Arsenal’s connection to the African diaspora. “It’s been an incredible experience for our designers to work alongside their team to bring this to life,” Handy noted. “No one can tell these stories like they can.”

In addition to the away kit, a capsule collection has been released, featuring patterns and colors from the kit across jackets, tees, jumpers, and track pants. The collection includes a reworked Labrum London logo incorporating the Nomoli icon, symbolizing protection and prosperity, a cultural element from the Mende and Kissi tribes of Sierra Leone.

Labrum London’s founder, Foday Dumbuya, shared his personal connection to the project, reflecting on his experiences as a second-generation immigrant and an Arsenal fan. “Arsenal has a strong connection to this community, so it is an incredibly proud moment for me to have collaborated on this design with them,” Dumbuya said.

The on-field version of the away jersey features HEAT.RDY technology to keep players cool, while the fan version includes AEROREADY technology for moisture management.

Both versions are available for purchase from today at Arsenal FC stores, selected Adidas retail stores, adidas.com/football, labrumlondon.com, and the Labrum London Store.
