In photos: Skyla Tylaa’s starry Fabric takeover

The club spectacle marks a new chapter of star power for the south London DJ.

The London-born DJ might only be twenty-four, but Skyla Tylaa been making moves in the industry since her first foray three years ago — she’s supported Wizkid on tour and was hand-picked by Rihanna to play at the Fenty x Puma Creeper launch event in London last year. Her most recent spectacle in her home city? Tylaa’s takeover of one of London’s biggest and wildest clubs, Fabric, in their latest iteration of FABRICLIVE.

Tylaa didn’t just play at the club, though — she put on a whole (and totally sold-out) party across Fabric’s two main rooms. Room 1, which took on the name ‘SKYNIGHT’ for the evening, was completely packed out with party go-ers waving glow sticks as they ramped up to Tylaa’s set with performances from Nicky Summers, Kwamzy and Harriet Bella.

Meanwhile, Room 2 was headed up by party-makers Jerk X Jollof. A global event series dedicated to celebrating Afro-Caribbean culture, their London night saw RBC, Keyrah, Super Midz, Donch, LAJ keeping people on their feet. After all, FABRICLIVE isn’t about vanity projects — it’s about putting on parties that celebrate through music, no matter the flavour of the evening.

That said, it was of course headliner Tylaa who was the star of the evening. Over the course of her set, the DJ proved her reputation isn’t built on hype alone — her talent lies not only in her technical prowess (seamlessly blending genres that shouldn’t work together but do), but also in her unique way of transcending borders, while staying firmly planted in her south London and Jamaican roots.

The cherry on the cake of Tylaa’s FABRICLIVE takeover? The DJ unveiled her new single “Bombshell”, featuring an all-star cast of Diamond Platnumz, Tyler ICU, Khalil Harrison and DJ Exit. The track is Tylaa’s first official release with both vocal and producer credits. It has also racked up over ninety million views from unreleased teasers alone. Between SKYNIGHT and “Bombshell”, everything is aligning for Tylaa — she’s not just a behind-the-decks tastemaker, but a front-and-centre star.
