All the viral moments from the 2025 VMAs

It wouldn't be the VMAs without a fair few viral moments. Here's HUNGER's rundown of the best of them.

From Doja eating her lipstick to Sabrina speaking up, the 2025 VMAs was, as ever, packed with Insta-worthy moments.

Summer Walker turned up with an old man

The singer’s new beau is a little different to most recent ex Rico Recklezz. In fact, he probably couldn’t be more different, because he’s an old white man (as of yet unnamed). The couple spent the night feeding each other candyfloss and smooching, before Walker hard-launched him on Insta with a caption reading ‘Fuck My Type’. I mean, it’s not like everyone hadn’t seen him by that point anyway. Good for her, I guess?

Doja Cat chowed down on her lipstick

The rapper debuted her new song ‘Jealous Type’ in one of the night’s performances. But before that, the Cat pulled up to the red carpet sporting a Balmain dress — whose plunging neckline the internet is also getting a bit too excited over — and a bold red lip. She took out her lippie to reapply while posing for the photographers. And then she ate it. Of course she bloody did.

Sabrina Carpenter danced for the dolls

If you haven’t seen the singer’s music video for ‘Tears’ yet, what are you doing? If you have (right answer), you’ll already know that Carpenter’s VMAs performance followed the same theme, i.e. an awe-inducing dance number featuring drag queens and Rocky Horror references. She was accompanied by several RuPaul’s Drag Race queens on stage who, along with the backing dancers, held up signs advocating for trans rights. Then, when Carpenter won the Best Album award for 2024’s Short n’ Sweet, she then lauded the dolls in her speech. We love to see it.

Mariah Carey did the least

Carey won the Video Vanguard, a lifetime achievement award, before taking to the stage to perform some of her biggest tunes. However, everyone kicked off about the fact she was “doing the bare minimum” (read: just walking around the stage a bit). Not very exciting, to be fair.

YUNGBLUD went below the belt

The Doncaster-born singer rocked up to the red carpet wearing some really low-cut leather trousers. Not much else to say there, really.
