Today is the day: the UEFA Euros 2024 finally kicks off, and it’s the host nation Germany who will be opening the tournament in their fixture against Scotland. Of course, you should have your footy clobber all sorted by now, but on the off chance you don’t, Aries and Umbro are coming in clutch as they reunite for a third collaboration of football-inspired garments. In celebration of Umbro’s 100th anniversary, all jerseys are decorated with a “centenary” graphic on their backs. In the same collaborative font from the duo’s previous partnerships, the motif features the number “100” shaped after Umbro’s “double diamond” iconography. The collaboration is perfect for those who like a fashionable spin on their jerseys, and it will no doubt go down well in just about every beer garden in London this summer. The collection is available online.
Next up, toasting to Pride Month, Glenn Martens’ Diesel has reunited with the Tom of Finland Foundation to create an expressive capsule collection for the third year in a row. Coinciding with the Foundation’s 40th anniversary, the collaboration is a multi-pronged project that consists of a ready-to-wear capsule and a series of global events. Platforming LGBTQIA+ talent, the capsule collection is covered in artworks by Stuart Sandford, Suzanne Shifflett, Tank, the Hun, Valentine, Henning von Berg, and Tom of Finland. Their creations appear all over 24 pieces – including trucker jackets, button-down shirts, graphic T-shirts, denim pants, and jockstraps – as prints and patchworks. Notably, each silhouette features a canvas tape trim with quotes from the featured artists. Earlier this month, the duo’s Pride celebrations officially commenced at the annual Tom of Finland Art and Culture Festival at Berlin’s Halle am Berghain, which was followed by programming on New York’s Fire Island. The festivities are slated to continue through Helsinki Pride, a Diesel exhibition opening in Tokyo, and a party at Tom’s house in Los Angeles later this year. Sure, the weather might be indescribably awful right now, but we can still look ahead with optimism to the moment we can wear our shades without looking like a bit of a twat. With that in mind, JW Anderson has introduced its first-ever eyewear line: a four-piece range of sunglasses inspired by the Jonathan Anderson-founded imprint’s key signifiers. Made with premium Mazzuchelli Acetate from Italy, each unisex model comes in one size and a range of colourways. The collection includes the Bumper, Rectangle, and Twister models. The collection is now available online, and would make for the perfect sunnies for any upcoming festivals or trips abroad (where sun is slightly more likely).
