LV Home has the joie de vivre

Since launching in 1854, Louis Vuitton has been all about innovation — take their 1885 Bed Trunk or 1930 Desk Trunk, which fused luggage and furniture. Their most recent exploit, though? The 2025 Home Collections, newly launched at Milan Design Week. Now, homeware isn’t a brand new thing for Vuitton. If you recall, the maison has been creating bits and bobs for our abodes since the launch of Objets Nomads back in 2012. The time, though, it’s a full-scale operation covering everything from textiles to tableware.

Set against the neo-classical backdrop of Palazzo Serbelloni, the preview of LV’s new designs are a sweet balance of savoir faire and fun. Many of the prints chosen for the collection are inspired by futurist artist Fortunato Depero and French architect-slash-designer Charlotte Perriand, giving some lovely je ne sais quoi to the collection. The showroom (more like a literal palace) even features a bespoke pinball machine inspired, of course, by men’s creative director Pharrell Williams’s stamp on the brand.
Some of our favourite pieces, though, hark back to the brand’s travelware roots (they launched their first travel trunks in 1858). For one, there’s a trunk that doubles as a vinyl player and record holder, one that opens up to form the perfect mini bar and even one that takes the form of a luxe chaise longue. Popped alongside some more out-there pieces — like the teal, fringed foosball table — it’s a case in point that Vuitton knows how to combine top-class, traditional craftsmanship with innovation and fun — a combo that can only result in the ultimate joie de vivre.
