Kim Kardashian is Balenciaga’s latest brand ambassador
“For me, this long-standing relationship is built on mutual trust and a commitment to doing what’s right,” she said.
Kim Kardashian has just been appointed as the new Brand Ambassador for Balenciaga. The multi-hyphenate has been linked with Balenciaga for quite some time now. She attended the 51st Met Gala in a full, face-covering Balenciaga dress, accompanied by the Creative Director himself, Demna.
Kardashian never misses a chance to appear at a Balenciaga show, from walking the Couture show to sitting front row at the seasonal shows. Expectedly so, she also attended the off-season LA show Balenciaga presented late last year, accompanied by her camera crew, possibly filming for the new season of The Kardashians.
Speaking of the new role, Kardashian said in a statement: “For several years now, Balenciaga’s designs have been a part of my many looks – and some of my most iconic fashion moments. This historic fashion house embraces modernity and craftsmanship and takes an innovative approach to design under Demna.” She adds, “For me, this long-standing relationship is built on mutual trust and a commitment to doing what’s right. I’m excited about this next chapter for the brand and to become their ambassador.”
However, her relationship with the House has not always been smooth sailing. In November of last year, Balenciaga’s name was riddled with scandal, thanks to two controversial campaigns: one showcasing children with BDSM-inspired teddy bear bags and another that included documents regarding child pornography laws. At the time, Kardashian stated that she was “reevaluating [her] relationship with the brand.”
Her attendance at the aforementioned LA show marked her stamp of approval on the controversial brand once again, and today’s ambassadorship announcement only confirms the regained strength in that relationship.
