Watch the trailer for Joachim Trier’s film The Worst Person in the World

The award winning movie is one of the most anticipated releases of 2022…

The trailer for Joachim Trier’s film, The Worst Person in the World, is finally here. The director, who is renowned for previous productions including Oslo, August 31st, Thelma, and The Other Munch, has garnered huge support for his upcoming release after being nominated for the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival.

The film’s lead, Renate Reinsve, also received critical acclaim at the prestigious event, picking up the award for Best Actress.  Since then, the buzz around Trier’s fifth movie has not stopped growing. Alongside other cast members, Maria Grazia Di Meo, Hans Olav Brenner and Anders Danielsen Lie, the award-winning film is expected to keep riding the wave of one of 2022’s best films.

Now, we finally have greater insight into what the film is about — the characters and the events that unfold around ‘the worst person in the world’.

In the trailer, we see snippets of Julie’s (Reinsve) life as she lingers in the uncomfortable, sometimes maybe enviable, space between a stable relationship and an exciting love affair. Julie runs through the streets as time stops around her, weaving in between static people and traffic. There’s a clear dichotomy between a life that she perhaps wants to have, and a life that she’s living.

“Sometimes I just want to feel things,” Julie says in a candid and very real conversation with her partner in a darkened apartment. It’s relatable, and something that we have come to expect of Trier; bleak moments that are woven with a real sense of longing and emotion, much like what the director captured in Oslo, August 31st

The Worst Person in the World’ will be available in the UK via MUBI on March 25th. For now, find out more about the film in our roundup of the year’s most anticipated films…
