Trend spotlight: Milk is the new beauty formulation to look out for

It’s the start of a new season, and new products and formulations are popping up all over the shop. One seemingly to watch out for this autumn is milk — yep, the humble drink, best-loved in cereals, is now a powerhouse ingredient, according to experts. “Milk has a range of topical benefits,” explains Salomé Metreveli, a dermatologist at the Sky Clinic. “It contains key nutrients including Vitamin B, calcium and AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acid), which makes it perfect for slowing down the ageing process. When used in makeup, milk works as a natural cleanser by using lactic acid to pull out the dirt by deep cleansing clogged pores and removing acne-causing bacteria.”
Aparna Salaskar, a senior beauty therapist at Aesthetics International, adds: “Dairy milk has B vitamins and calcium, and it can also treat acne, moisturise skin and reduce signs of ageing. It’s also rich in antioxidants, which defend the skin from free radical damage.”
