Sans Soucis is the latest artist to do a ‘Lock-In’ session at the iconic Abbey Road studios

Sans Soucis, the Italian-born songwriter, artist and producer that now calls London their home, is the latest to do a ‘Lock-In’ session at the iconic Abbey Road studios. The series was born out of the desire to show what really goes on behind studio doors, shedding a light on a creative process that can often feel like a secret. As well as encouraging unexpected collaborations between artists and producers, the ‘Lock-In’ series is all about using the mix of vintage instruments and state of the art tech provided by Abbey Road. By recording their track ‘Mexico City’ during the ‘Lock-In’, Sans Soucis joins the likes of artists like Jane Weaver, Django Django x Denai Moore, Hak Baker and Fontaines D.C.

Joining Sans Soucis for their session was Cid Rim, or Clemens Bacher, the Austrian electronic producer and repeat collaborator of Sans Soucis, and the artist Charles. “Listening to [Charles] I felt like we spoke the same language” said Sans Soucis. “Our creative process was so effortless”.

What was born out of their session was ‘Mexico City’, a track inspired by the idea of escaping the icy UK winter for the inviting warmth of Mexico. Paying homage to late 70s and early 80s pop while giving it some contemporary flair, the single is the closest the trio could get to evoking the infectious atmosphere of a hot metropolis.

‘Mexico City’ will join Sans Soucis’ others joyful singles as well as their 2021 EP ‘On Time For Her’. Taking cues from artists like Little Dragon and Solange Knowles, all her music (‘Mexico City’ included) feels unified by its deeply authentic, uninhibited nature: brimming with vibrant musical textures and skilful lyricism.
