Rick Owens wants Cher to play him in a biopic

The legendary designer recently discussed his unlikely pick in an interview with Dazed.

The dark lord of high fashion, Rick Owens, was recently quizzed in an interview with Dazed on who he would like to portray him in a biopic of his life. The answer? Cher.

The US designer revealed that he had long been considering the possibility of the pop legend and fashion icon as the only possibility to play him. And now that we think about it, we agree. The star is a match made in heaven for Owens’ gothic aesthetic, and she’s also a huge Owens fan herself, making an appearance at his SS23 show last September.

Considering her massive success in the music world, it’s sometimes easy to forget, but Cher is an Oscar-winning actress, too, awarded Best Actress for her role in 1988’s Moonstruck. Since then, she’s gone on to become one of the most successful musicians to enter the acting world, starring in several critically acclaimed flicks, including If These Walls Could Talk.

Females portraying male characters is nothing new either, with the likes of Cate Blanchett playing Bob Dylan (Jude Quinn) in I’m Not There, and Tilda Swinton as an Elizabethan nobleman in Orlando. So, we’re sure Cher would do more than a stellar job.

While it’s unlikely, there’s no denying we’re all hoping to witness Cher take on Owens’ journey throughout the fashion world on the silver screen sometime soon.
