Kanye West has given up on sneakers entirely – now he just wears socks

With the recent news that adidas will be selling the rest of their YEEZY stock, it seems as though Kanye West himself is throwing out his personal collection too. Now, he’s just wearing socks.

Always pushing the envelope, Ye was recently seen sporting what appeared to be MMA shin guards while heading to the gym with his new wife, Bianca Censori. The artist recently filed a trademark to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which covers “Socks; socks with leather soles.” So, anyone hoping for more YEEZY sneakers is likely to be disappointed.

Yesterday, though, Ye and Censori were seen wearing the tight-fitting clothing that’s been their go-to as of late, but this time the UFC shin guards were removed entirely – leaving him walking around the streets of LA in, well, erm, just socks. 

Ye continued to don his cropped leather pullover and tights but swapped his MMA shoes for a pair of Sand Socks, a sock/shoe hybrid designed for volleyball players and other sand-based athletes.

It’s hard to imagine that Ye’s sneakerless look will catch on, even with his devoted fans (the ones entirely unbothered by his rampant antisemitism). Perhaps this is the phase we’ll all look back on when pinpointing the moment Ye finally lost his influence on the fashion world.
