Julia Fox just shared a chaotic tutorial of how to do her iconic smoky eye

Love it or hate it, Julia Fox’s dramatic smoky eye has got people talking. The look was first created by Pat McGrath, then applied by her short-lived flame, Kanye West, and now it’s the actresses go to, so much so that she refers to it as the “Fox eye”.
Taking to Instagram yesterday, prior to the Independent Spirit Awards, Fox copped to the pressure and walked us through her red-carpet ready makeup routine. Josh Safdie’s muse started by prepping her skin by applying the iS Clinical Active Serum, which she said acted as a barrier, before using Armani’s Luminous Silk foundation and concealer with her fingers: “It really is like painting. It’s art. Fuck anyone who says differently,” she shrugged.
Then, Fox contoured with Westman Atelier and used a clear gel blush from Espressoh, explaining, “I already have rosacea so I don’t go too much with the blush.”
And then came the moment we were all waiting for, the eyes. “What’s really important with the Fox eye is that you really want to follow the shape of your own brow,” the Uncut Jaaahms star illuminated, before using a black eyeshadow from a Pat McGrath palette to messily apply the shadow over her eyelid — which she then promptly smeared across her cheek. No panic though, with the help of some make-up wipes, black eyeliner and mascara, Fox eventually nailed her signature boxy smoky eye look. “I love it, I think it’s fierce. I don’t give a fuck what the haters say,” she added with a smile before signing off.
