HUNGER’s MVP of the week

For this week’s playlist refresher, we’ve got the latest offering from Opium’s Destroy Lonely, who returns with If Looks Could Kill (Director’s Cut) – an extended follow-up to his critically acclaimed project featuring six new tracks. Eclectic tracks like “too damn rich” and “back sippin” showcase Lonely’s versatility and growing artistry whilst making for the perfect soundtrack to any hedonism you may or may not be indulging in this weekend. So, be sure to lace up your Rick Owens, pull on your leather jeans, and play this one on full blast.
Next up, if you’re on the lookout for a poignant viewing experience this weekend, the documentary White Nanny Black Child will have a theatrical release at the Ritzy Picturehouse, Brixton, on Sunday 1st October – before its TV premiere on Channel 5 3rd October at 10PM. The film features a group of adults sharing their experiences of growing up as children of Black Nigerian immigrants who were fostered by white British families. Between 1955 and 1995, over 70,000 West African children were fostered by white Britons in a practice known as ‘farming’. Many individuals then had to live, often in silence, with the long-lasting impact of this controversial official policy. Filmed over six days inside a stately home, nine participants, under professional guidance, discuss their experiences, delving into their past and revealing confusion and trauma in an eye-opening documentary.
