HUNGER’s MVP of the week

First up on this week’s MVP is the cult streetwear label Unknown’s new collection with rolling paper brand Rizla. You can now snatch yourself up this uber-desirable drop with a plethora of clothing items and lifestyle pieces. Their t-shirts boast baby blue and black, with a grey sweatshirt and faded jorts – all branded with the Unknown logo reimagined in the Rizla font. It’s the perfect marriage of both brands’ DNA, with socks, skate decks, packs, rolling trays, and ashtrays, with the addition of grinders, rolling papers, and lighter packs that stay at Unknown’s affordable prices. Their standout has to be the crisp white Heli tee which shows the vehicle in a black silhouette with figures swinging from ropes, an ode to their exclusive early grabs giveaway at the start of the month, which saw its founders fly a customised helicopter over the streets of London. Authentic and as innovative as ever, you can grab your Unknown X Rizla pieces here now.

From street to skate, next up is London-based photographer, gallerist, and skater James Edson’s 25-year photo archive book. After narrowing down a collection of thousands shot across the span of his career, the Palace Wayward Boys Choir (PWBC) member and Wayward Gallery founder is now presenting us with a first-ever photo book of his work: Rabbit Hole. Throughout the photobook, Edson’s loved ones are pictured in black and white, spread across double pages that rotate by 45 degrees meaning when pages are turned, you feel the effect of falling down this Rabbit Hole. Skate park memories hail tattooed biceps, hospital trips, blunt circles, and cult skate-style garments – a true first-hand look into the world of this subculture. With a quarter of a century’s work whittled down into this book, you can now shop the book exclusively at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts, with the addition of a printed tee and blanket available to buy.

In fashion news, Charles Jeffrey’s Loverboy enters a darker fantastical chapter with their new ENGINE ROOM campaign and AW23 collection. The creative force proves why they are stellar players in the industry, evolving with this new offering to create an underworld-style of looks. The premise lies in the models acting as workers who labour in the wasteland below, donning the garments labelled to show the functionality of their wear. As the stylings mix utility with elegance, skirts, heels, and the signature knits show Jeffrey’s signifier of romanticness is still present, but with a new era of darkness as its pillars. Of course, the new dreamscape from the layered mind transforms the pieces into a life of their own, and you can now peruse the AW23 collection here.
