Dsquared2 SS19: Camo, neo-military codes and undone corsetry
[D]squared2’s spring / summer ’19 collection put a modern spin on combat gear…with 50 shades of neon. “Battle fatigues are interchangeable for men and women,” according to show notes. “Combat pants are the focus of the season’s silhouette, constructed from cotton, in green tones, honey camouflage, with overlays of gauzy black tulle and some with inserts of neon nylon and metallic reflective fabric. Their volume is built from interior lacing and drawstrings, and they are laden with pockets, parachute style straps and rucksack clips. A fitted version for women comes with high waist corset and oversized billowy pockets, paired with a cropped hooded sweatshirt.” You can check out every look from Dsquared2’s SS19 collection in our gallery below.
Urban globetrotters have a romantic edge in washed silk voile short dresses, vests and long skirts in shades of ivory and sage. Floral jacquard is inserted into women’s combat pants, and men’s sporty parkas, trimmed with reflective piping. An 80s undertone ran through the collection too – from the cat eye shades, supersized shoulders and reflective fabrics.
