10 minutes with Rainsford: The singer dishes on what she can’t get enough of right now

Last month, we sat down with actress, singer and model, Rainsford (aka Rainey Qualley), to discuss her recent career moves, and why heartbreak always makes for the best songwriting material.

Here, we caught up with the multi-hyphenate to chat about the things she can’t get enough of right now — from music and television, to who she’d call in an emergency. It’s obviously a tough one between her mother, Andie McDowell and her sister, Margaret Qualley…

1. Favourite song right now?

I’ve been listening to this Dolly Parton song called ‘Gonna Hurry (As Slow As I Can)’

2. Favourite show right now?

The Righteous Gemstones

3. What brand can’t you get enough of right now?

There’s a Reformation vintage store in LA that I love. I try to buy a lot of vintage stuff, it’s just better for the environment too.

4. In an emergency, who would you call for advice?

My sister.

5. Your favourite way to cope with an existential crisis?

Call my sister.

6. What is your most toxic way of coping with said existential crisis?

Shutting myself off and crying in my room.

7. What’s your party trick?

I don’t think I have one! I mean… I can pull my tongue into a clover but I don’t think that’s super special.

8. Favourite curse word?

Fuck.

9. Favourite song to sing in the shower?

The Usher song, ‘U Remind Me’

10. If you could get one celebrity round for dinner tonight, who would it be?

Well, I was just stalking Britney Spears on Instagram this morning, so I’d have her over. I mean, I don’t have any food in my house, I have carrots and tangerines, but I don’t think she’d care.

11. Favourite comfort film?

I rewatched The Office recently, it’s not a movie, but I’ve seen every episode a thousand times.

12. Night out or night in?

Night in, I guess. I’m still scared to go out because of Covid, but also I’ve got my cat here and my boyfriend’s dog, so night in.

13. If your house was to, sadly, burn down what would you save?

My cats, and then my sister’s cats.

14. Something people don’t know about you?

I am super clumsy. I’ve broken my legs and arms, and once was in a wheelchair for a couple of months in middle school because I broke my legs on two separate occasions. I broke one and then I broke the other one when I was on crutches. I was in a wheelchair for like four months.

15. What is the best thing about having three actresses in the family?

I guess we all kind of understand what it’s like and what the job requires. We’re there for each other, and just get the good and bad sides.
