Who. What. Where? No. 93

Welcome to HUNGER’s Who. What. Where? Your one stop shop for all the latest and greatest upcoming events and cultural fixes.

First up, it’s over to one of the capital’s most iconic clubs — none other than fabric, who as part of their fabric presents mix series, are hosting two nights featuring legendary electronic music producer, Laurent Garnier. The French DJ is not just performing at fabric this Friday and Saturday, but releasing limited edition deluxe vinyls and CDs which see Garnier take us through a (wild) night at the Farringdon venue. There’s four mixes, encompassing four different genres — house, techno, UK and ambient. There’s something for everyone, so get your gameface on for both a big night out and fabric blowing up your pre-pubescent ID pic onto one of those Blade Runner-esque machines on the door. Tickets here and vinyl (and the like) here

Next, it’s time for something a little festive. Tonight, over at West London esoteric institution, Tenderbooks, they’re hosting an evening with emerging London-based designer Talia Byre, whose ready-to-wear label is all about distinctive silhouettes and seasonal meditations on colour — it’s sold on SSENSE, so it’s instantly cool. At Tenderbooks, you’ll be able to not just shop Talia’s new collection – which is full of winter-ready pieces – but get your hands on Tenderbooks’ limited-edition book bag. In other words, your tote game is about to skyrocket. More details here

We love a bit of photography over here at HUNGER. For your fix in that region, you can thank The Photographer’s Gallery, who are hosting Letizia Battaglia: Life, Love and Death in Sicily. This one’s somewhat self-explanatory — the Italian photographer documented everyday life alongside the brutal reality of the Sicilian mafia during the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s. She (or one of her colleagues at the newspaper she reported to) was present at every major crime scene in the city for over two decades. It’s what photojournalism is all about. Book here

Who likes secrets? Honestly, we don’t, but fill your boots or whatever! If you’re in Briz (Bristol) this weekend, Lips Sealed Club are hosting a secret little party at a secret little location. The last one was a sell-out success and though we can’t give you too many deets on what’ll go down, it will be in an underground venue and attendees will be dancing into the early hours. Everything will be announced here (or on Lips Sealed Club’s Instagram) on Saturday. By the way, tickets are just over a tenner.

Over at the Barbican, they’re hosting an exclusive screening of All of This Unreal Time, a new short film following Cillian Murphy through city streets and wild marshlands as he delivers a haunting monologue about shame and ecological crisis. It’s written by Max Porter, directed by Aoife McArdle, and scored by The National’s Dessner brothers alongside Jon Hopkins — a real smorgasbord of talent, as you can see. After the screening, they’ll even be an all-star Q&A with the creative team, plus live performances from the composers themselves. You can also get your hands on the Rough Trade Books edition of All of This Unreal Time, which has a cheeky little foreward from Cillian. Book here.

Last but not least, we’re putting you onto emerging Bulgarian artist VICTORIA, who’s got her debut headline show at Notting Hill Arts Club tonight. Victoria Georgieva is singer songwriter that cut her teeth with X Factor Bulgaria and the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, for which she was the Bulgarian representative — unfortunately the latter got cancelled (thanks to the ruddy pandemic) but we reckon she’s about to be the pop girly to know. Her debut EP was released back in 2021, featuring a blend of ballads, dark pop and experimental numbers, all of which will be on display on this fine winter’s evening. Grab a ticket here
