The Vivienne’s most iconic looks

Yesterday marked a massively sad day for the drag community with the death of iconic queen The Vivienne – also known as James Lee Williams when not in drag – at the age of thirty-two. The Welsh-born performer won the first series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK back in 2019, where her impression of Donald Trump – complete with a blonde wig and orange makeup – earned her the crown. It marked the start of a stellar career for The Vivienne (her drag name an ode to Vivienne Westwood clothing), a whistlestop tour of which saw her become the first drag queen to feature on Dancing on Ice, embody the Wicked Witch of the West in the revival of The Wizard of Oz musical and nab a spot in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, as well as in a slew of other British telly shows. Tying her career together, though, was The Vivienne’s characteristic “pizzazz” and penchant for finding the beauty in imperfection.
