RankinLIVE returns to Los Angeles for Valentine’s Day

Madonna, David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Rankin’s photos are known to pack a punch. But this Valentine’s Day, he’s doing the opposite: he’s capturing love. On 14 February at High Society on Beverly Boulevard, HUNGER’s editor-in-chief is putting on a special Valentine’s edition of RankinLIVE.
Of course, in true Rankin style, this RankinLIVE session isn’t about clichéd couples portraits. It’s about capturing what makes people’s versions of love unique. It doesn’t have to be romantic love, either. He’s inviting people to bring their partners, best friend, children or chosen family — or to even come solo and channel that self-love.

High Society, the bespoke tailoring house on Beverly Boulevard, provides the perfect setting. Known for precision craft and helping people express themselves through clothing, it’s a space that understands the relationship between how people present themselves and how they feel. That philosophy translates seamlessly to what Rankin does behind the camera.
Rankin’s approach is instinctive, stripping away pretence to capture something honest. Whether channelling confidence, vulnerability or joy, he will distill that into the shots, which patrons can take home in the form of a digital portrait and an authenticated A4 print, shipped once professionally produced.
Slots are limited and historically sell out. So, if you’re looking for a way to mark Valentine’s Day that’s more meaningful than dinner reservations, stepping in front of one of contemporary photography’s most influential lenses might just be it.
