On the road with Omar Apollo

Get a sneak peak of our story with Kyle Keli’ikoa as the photographer captures Omar Apollo’s God Said No tour, giving us a raw look at life on the road — electric shows, late nights and everything in between.

We always say that every tour feels like the best yet, but this year we hit five continents and it’s definitely widened my perspective. I really appreciate working with these dudes — I’m the youngest in the group and Omar and the guys are always creating or researching, and that rubs off on me. I feel like I’m constantly learning from everyone, and I’m constantly inspired by Omar, whether it’s his work ethic, curiosity or knowledge. He and his managers, Jake and Dylan, have taught me so much and helped me grow.

We’ve come a long way from me saying five words a day (I’m naturally very shy and reserved). It’s funny — we kind of mould into each other when we travel. When we’re on the road, we need to be with everyone — we almost become co-dependent. The amount of “WYA” texts we send each other is insane. By the end of the tour we also start dressing like each other, just slightly different versions. We must look like minions. But, as we’ve spent more time together and gotten closer, Omar and I have shared an understanding of each other that really helps the photos.
