The Goat — Featuring CDLP

Welcome to HUNGER’s The Goat, where we let you in on all the hottest drops and new releases. Less hype, more the things you actually need on your radar.

It’s Birkenstock season, baby — unless you’re an east Londoner, in which case it’s always Birky season (I used that in WWW already, but don’t tell anyone). Anyway, everyone’s favourite slip-on brand has just dropped their 1774 collection, including the Arizona CosNy, a fun, monochrome version of the Arizona sandal cooked up by the brand’s Paris atelier in 1973. Fancy. As you can imagine, things have moved on from ’73 (hence the name ‘1774’), so this time round they’re made with Italian nylon. Why nylon, you ask? Because it’s the perfect fabric to wrap smoothly around the foot and create a soft, cushty feel, that’s why. Also, in an ode to the ’70s, the Arizona CosNy comes in an absolute kaleidoscope of colours, so you’ve got plenty of options to choose from (I’ll be sticking to the black, but you do you).

Shock horror, The North Face is actually outdoor gear. Who knew? Barry Keoghan did, apparently. The Irish actor just took a break from showing his you-know-what off on telly to go on a big trek up a mountain. And what did he wear while gallivanting Mont Blanc Massif and the Grand Flambeau ridge? The North Face Summit Series climbing gear, of course. There are jackets, trousers, even tents(!) The edit also comprises a pretty nifty ‘Himalayan Suit’ and tiger-print boots that I’d quite like to wear as statement pieces. But if you are actually going to do some adventuring this summer, you should check out all this top-notch paraphernalia.

Where you’ll find me this summer is, perhaps, the opposite of a perilous, icy rockface — the beach. Specifically Montenegro-based ones if you’re wondering (you’re not). That’s where CDLP’s SS25 swimwear collection comes in. It’s modelled on ‘the timeless depth of black’ (with some nods to grey, which is just about as much colour as I can manage), so it’s perfect if you still want to channel your inner Gabbriette on the sand. The star of the show is the ‘Square-neck Thong Swimsuit’ which is in equal parts cheeky and chic. And the best part is, the collection is made from Econyl® — a nylon fibre repurposed from landfill and ocean waste — so you don’t have to feel guilty about pumping the very ocean you’re swimming in with shit so that you can look good in said ocean.

Last but not least, Parisian brand Rombaut has dropped their Core collection, which comprises pared-back versions of their signature styles — such as the ‘Boccaccio’, which you might have seen the likes of Charli XCX and Billie Eilish sporting. If the mention of Charli didn’t imply this already, the brand is very much modelled on club culture — of the Belgian variety, to be precise — and so their shoes are made to last (read: dance). They’re vegan, they’re made with thirty-percent-recycled plastic and they just give: cool. What’s not to love?
