MVP of the week — Featuring MACHINE-B and Louis Vuitton

Welcome to HUNGER’s Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do, or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what’s hot, what’s not, and what needs to be on your radar…

For our fashion fix this week, we’re turning to the The Reissue Series: As FOUR. Marking the third archive installment of MACHINE-B, a collab between contemporary vintage brand Byronesque and the London-based concept store MACHINE-A, this time round the focus is on reviving designs from the legendary 2000s design collective threeASFOUR. The collective are famous for the avante-garde flair of their Circle bags, and this collab will be the first time the three designers (Gabriel Asfour, Angela Donhauser, and Adi Gil) have worked together in over fifteen years. The four Circle bags released — as well as the limited run of eight Circle Bags handmade from upcycled materials — feel like a celebration of their shared history. They’re available online and in-store at 13 Brewer St.

Left one of your bezzie mates’ Christmas present to the last minute? If they’re inclined towards being a bit litty lengy — that’s @socks_house_meeting speak for the kind of people that love nothing more than a galivant around Dalston and a trip to The Spurstowe Arms — then look no further than the Oranj X Socks House Meeting Festive Hamper. A collab between London’s most observant meme creator and natural wine bar and bottle shop Oranj, the hamper is full of goodies that the slightly annoying people in your life will love. Think exclusive @socks_house_meeting merch, products from Haeckels and Drake’s — some of the main fixtures of lengy Clapton bois —  as well as a bottle of Sicilian orange wine aptly named Fizzy Biscuits 2021… If you know, you know. You can order the hamper right up until the 21st of December and still get in time for the big day.

While it’s hard to imagine with the UK being perpetually grey and gloomy, down under it’s nearly time for the Australian Open. And there’s no better way to celebrate the sporting prowess on display than the striking trophy trunks Louis Vuitton has designed for the occasion. The trunks were hand-crafted in the fashion house’s historic workshops just outside Paris before making their way to Melbourne, and they feature the iconic Vuitton monogram and a blue-lining that pays homage to the tournament’s colour palette and its signature blue courts. The trophy trunks will make their debut at the start of the women’s and men’s finals on January 27 and 28, as well as at the prize-giving ceremonies when the Australian Open wraps up. Basically, tennis is a hypebeast now.

Tis the season to be jolly. Tis also the season to get a Nando’s themed bauble. The patron saints of PERi-PERi have teamed up with London-based textile artist Rosie Anwara to create some exclusive mini decorations that are guaranteed to give your tree some flavour. Rosie Anwara‘s hand-crafted designs — which for this collab include her take on PERi-PERi sauce, the iconic Nando’s takeaway bag, and an Extra Hot spice flag — mark yet another collaborative venture from one of the UK’s fave eateries. Nando’s has previously collaborated with candle brand cent.ldn and teeth jewellers M I L K & H O N E Y, but joining forces with Rosie Anwara is by far their most festive effort.

And if time with your parents over the festive period is making you feel a bit like you’re twelve again, why not go whole hog and opt for accessories that play on that? Introducing the Crayon Bag by brother and sister designing duo Urban Sophistication: paying homage to the thing we used to scribble with as a kid, it’s a bag that’s all about getting in touch with your inner child. They feature double-straps that mimic the signature black lines of a crayon, are made of glazed vegan leather, and come in three different colours — Chocolate Birthday Cake, Juicy Cherry and Iced Strawberry. Best of all, they’re online now.
