WATCH: Kate Moss channels the 90s for new Diet Coke ad

The model makes her return as creative director of the drinks brand for their Season 2 campaign.

DC break anyone? The creative director Kate Moss just unveiled the most glamorous visuals for the brand yet – inspired entirely by the iconic Diet Coke 90s ads. This venture marks the supermodel and entrepreneur’s second round of work, with the return paying homage to her own timeless style.

The campaign is titled ‘Diet Coke by Kate Moss, Love What You Love’, and follows on from last year’s work, which she said was a “huge success”. This time around, Moss delves into the archives and pulls out some of the adverts from 1994 to 2013. The likes saw a group of women staring at young men as they took their DC break, with the soundtrack ‘I Just Want to Make Love to You’ playing over the top. Though unclear how these will be interpreted this 2023, Moss is aiming to retain the sexy appeal of Diet Coke, whilst updating it for a new modern audience.

In their Instagram caption they say: “Influenced by the duo’s shared love of fashion, Kate draws on the iconic 11:30 Diet Coke Break to develop the ‘Diet Coke Break by Kate Moss’ campaign, launching later this summer.”

It is also hoped that the signature high-fashion influence of Moss will be injected into this round of visuals, especially for the limited edition collection. In one of the released images, Moss reimagines the DC break on a construction site, this time draped in a vintage chainmail floor-length gown by the designer and stylist Katy England. The piece is photographed against the London skyline and provides the first insight into what is set to be a high-fashion tribute to the retro ad campaigns.

The brand has promised that this revival will be “very different aesthetically to the ‘90s and ‘00s” whilst “the narrative is the same”.
