Warhol on Basquiat: The new photo book giving you a glimpse into the pair’s artistic relationship
Warhol on Basquiat will contain hundreds of Andy Warhol’s photos, documenting his collaboration and friendship with Jean-Michel Basquiat during the 1980s.
The images, which are previously unpublished, explore the pair’s relationship when both were living in New York. Warhol was already a world famous artist, while Basquiat was the underdog talent rising from the Lower Manhattan graffiti scene.

As well as the unseen photos of Basquiat, the book also features excerpts from Warhol’s legendary diary, archive material, collaborative works by the two artists and exciting images of parties with Madonna, Grace Jones, Keith Haring and Fela Kuti.
Some of the excerpts from Warhol’s diary reveal he was aware of Basquiat’s anxieties: “He’s afraid he’s just going to be a flash in the pan and I told him not to worry. He wouldn’t be.”
Produced with The Andy Warhol Foundation and Jean-Michel Basquiat’s estate, the book is edited by Michael Dayton Hermann and is available here. Click through the gallery below for a sneak peek into the covetable new book…
