Ouch! Harry Styles just got hit in the face onstage

Styles is the next celebrity victim of this odd throwing-objects-on-stage trend.

Fans can’t stop launching items at their favourite celebrities – and it seems Harry Styles has fallen as the next victim to this strange trend. Footage has been shared online of the singer walking across the stage at his Ernst Happel Stadium gig in Austria on the 8th of June, just before an indistinguishable item hits him in the face.

The video shows Styles grabbing his face in pain and walking back upstage with his hands still over his eyes. It’s said he was starting the encore and had just sung the 2017 hit ‘Sign Of The Times’. This isn’t the first time fans have thrown their items at the star, and last month he had a bunch of flowers hurled at him in Cardiff – albeit a softer landing than this case in Vienna.

Styles is one of many celebrities being hurt by fans at their concerts. Late last June, Bebe Rexha got hit in the eye with a phone whilst performing by a fan who justified the incident by saying “it would be funny” on social media. Rexha had to get stitches post-show and fans were extremely worried about what would have happened had it been closer to the eyes.

In the same week as the Rexha performance, singer Ava Max was slapped onstage after a fan breached security measures in Los Angeles and subsequently had a scratch inside her eye.

Items are getting weirder as the trend continues to spread, with singer P!nk getting a fan’s mother’s ashes thrown onto the stage. Luckily, Adele has spoken out against fans’ affiliation with this throwing habit, rightly saying “Have you noticed how people are like forgetting f***ing show etiquette at the moment?” At her residency in Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace, she continued to say “I f***ing dare you. Dare you to throw something at me and I’ll f***ing kill you.”

She was joking, of course, but many are saying harsher measures need to be taken when dealing with this trend. ‘Dark Red’ singer Steve Lacy smashed a fan’s camera in October 2022, yelling “Don’t throw shit on my fucking stage please!” He later defended his actions, with Bad Bunny similarly tossing a fan’s phone earlier this year after they got too close to him when he was walking down the street.
