HUNGER’s MVP of the week

Welcome to HUNGER’s Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do, or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what’s hot, what’s not, and what needs to be on your radar…

Kicking off this week’s MVP is everyone’s favourite cult brand, With Jéan, who partnered with New-York based multidisciplinary artist Jeff Weins to create a unique ad showcasing With Jéan’s first-ever gender-neutral collection. The capsule is presented in a neutral colour palette, complementing the concrete jungle that Weins is familiar with. Utilitarian styles make up for most of the collection, with khakis and beige shown throughout, whilst feminine two-pieces act as standouts in the form of a sleek tube top with lace detailing on the back, alongside a matching mini-skirt. With Jéans first gender-neutral drop is now available to shop on the brand’s online store.

If you’re looking for a motive this weekend and some top-notch food and bevs, look no further than SMOKESTAK’s summer party this Saturday, 19th August. In celebration of their 10th birthday, the eatery will take over the car park opposite the Shoreditch restaurant, hosting an al fresco mini-festival that returns to the restaurant’s roots as a street feast trader. There will be live DJs, one-off limited dishes and classic cocktails to ensure the good vibes thrive throughout the night. Tickets are available to book here.

Stüssy is back yet again to bless us with another eye-catching collection to see out the summer. Following up on its most recent collaborative endeavours alongside BornxRaised and COMME des GARÇONS, Stüssy has now revealed its Fall ‘23 collection. Shot against a backdrop of scenic mountains and palm trees, the California-based streetwear label’s latest lookbook teases a range of new knitted options, outerwear, bottoms, accessories and more. Stand-out outwear items include a bold blue GORE-TEX shell jacket, a textured zip-up hoodie, a pullover with a fiery gradient pattern and a baseball-inspired jacket with dice imagery on the backside. The first drop is slated to arrive on August 18th online and via Stüssy’s retail locations.

Trippie Redd’s A Love Letter To You series has become a staple for a generation of melodic rap crooners since its first instalment in 2017. Six years later, the Ohio native is back with its 5th iteration and continues his momentum as one of modern rap’s most consistent artists. Of course, just like the rest of the series, the project showcases Trippie’s vulnerability, particularly on the project opener, ‘Take Me Away’ (featuring Corbin). The tear-jerking track is a precursor for what’s to come, with Trippie exploring unrequited love, heartbreak and mental instability across the project’s 19 tracks. With features from The Kid Laroi, Bryson Tiller and Roddy Rich, the stacked record is yet another telling sign of Trippie’s staying power.
