HUNGER’s MVP of the week

Welcome to HUNGER’s Most Valuable Player, the place to find the best things to buy, watch, do, or listen to each week. Forget about the hype, we want to separate what’s hot, what’s not, and what needs to be on your radar…

As the Lionesses prep for their huge quarter-final bout vs Columbia this Saturday, there’s no better time to get yourself into the footy spirit. Fashion and football brand Lovers FC and Jameson are partnering up off the field with three of the women’s grassroots games’ most established sides, creating three bold designs inspired by iconic international kits. LGBTQIA+ champions Peaches FC have pulled from the classic Ireland ‘97 away kit, while Ex-Girlfriends FC take notes from the infamous England goalkeeper kit of 1995. Finally, the Victoria Park Vixens have taken inspiration from down under, and have chosen the 1991 Australia home shirt. All three kits are now available to shop here.

There’s never a bad time for a new Stüssy drop, especially now that the sun is starting to show its face once again. The new collection, which is available via the brands’ official site, notably boasts the Handstyle tee, which features the work of Born X Raised co-founders Spanto and 2Tone – who in June tragically died in a car accident. With an assortment of tees, outerwear, and accessories, the collection combines sportswear with everyday streetwear pieces that nod to the blissful California summer (something we all dream of here in the UK). In addition to apparel, the collection also offers a range of collectible items, including a branded beach towel and a custom Zippo lighter.

Martine Rose reached new heights with her Pitti Uomo 103 takeover, where the Londoner presented her Fall/Winter 2023 co-ed collection to her biggest crowd to date. It didn’t disappoint  with Rose serving up a combination of British-isms on an Italian grand tour. Now, you can feel confident, and in turn very sexy, thanks to the release of the Fall/Winter 2023 collection. The collection is fitted with plenty of quintessential Rose touches. Denim is rife, coming as a zip-off skirt with a new noughties-inspired fit, finish, and wash, while signature twist-seam jeans are found in an acidic over-dyed yellow hue, complete with all of the designer’s official branding. The range is available to shop online now.

It’s a big day for Liam Gallagher fans. Today marks the release of the former Oasis band member’s Knebworth 22 live album, and also the launch of the third adidas shoe collab between Liam and adidas Spezial founder Gary Aspden. The pair have reunited to create a second colour-way of the LG2 SPZL. It was designed with Liam’s input, and inspired by several historical adidas references. Key features include the bottle green stripes (a nod to the early colour-ways of the adidas Country), and of course, it’s signed off with Liam’s portrait on the tongue. UK stans now have the opportunity to win three signed pairs of the trainers from Liam’s personal collection — and if you want to be in with a chance, visit Liam’s official store and purchase your very own copy of Knebworth 22. Best of luck.

Finally, we took a moment to catch up with Axel Arigato’s European summer music truck tour. Throughout the summer, the truck has been making its way through Europe to bring a number of established and emerging talent to the masses in the form of free events. They started off in Berlin’s very hip RAW GELÄNDE and featured the likes of Lily Ackerman, Tommy Holohan and Cecilia Tosh, before travelling to Stockholm, where locals lapped up grooves from Thotland and house DJ Axel Boman. Next up was Amsterdam, where Lamsi, Tida Kamara, Ray Fuego and Jarreau Vandal, played inside an abandoned, creative warehouse. The latest stop for the truck was two nights in London; including a Thames-side rave and a stint at the city’s trendy Latimer Road, where the likes of Unknown T, Alewya and Siobhan Bell kept revellers going into the night. It’s not over yet, though, the tour will end with one final night in Paris towards the end of the year. The date will be announced in due course — and if you’re keen on attending, keep an eye on Axel Arigato’s social channels for the latest.
