HUNGER goes BTS of Mahalia’s iconic Hammersmith Apollo show

The singer-songwriter returned to London for an iconic performance, joined by the likes of Stormzy and Kojey Radical on stage.

To say 2023 has been a stellar year for singer-songwriter Mahalia would be an understatement. In July, the star released her critically acclaimed sophomore album, IRL –  a project that showcased her vulnerability and powerful, emotive vocals across 13 tracks. With a winning combination of soul and contemporary R&B, the singer cemented herself as one of the UK’s most talented artists, not to mention her endless list of accomplishments prior to the record’s release. At just 25 years old, she’s won no less than three MOBO Awards and has been nominated for both Grammy and Brit awards, while her debut album, Love and Compromise, has racked up over 1 billion streams since its release in 2019.

Last Thursday (October 19th), the musician reaped all of those rewards for a seminal show at London’s iconic Hammersmith Apollo, whilst bringing out the likes of Stormzy, Jojo, Kojey Radical and No Guidance. Luckily, we were given BTS access to see Mahalia prep for her career-defining performance, so scroll below for exclusive backstage shots before her appearance on one of the capital’s most recognisable stages…
