Divine Disorder: celebrating visionary fashion designer Pam Hogg
Fearless, inventive, and provocative: Pam Hogg’s been breaking all the fashion rules since the 70s. From the heart of London’s post-punk movement in the 80s, Hogg caught the attention of Clubland, with her bold, self produced designs which cemented her status as the ‘Caledonian Queen of Cling.’
Hogg’s early collections were stocked in Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Bloomingdales along with stores in Paris, Italy and Tokyo. But it was from her infamous Hyper Hyper Boutique in London’s Kensington High Street that presented the opportunity for her first catwalk show in 1985 garnering fans in the form of Debbie Harry and Siouxsie Sioux to Bjork and Kylie Minogue. The polymath Pam Hogg continues to create, direct, produce and style her collections, shown each season at London Fashion Week.
And now for the first time the Scottish designer is displaying a solo exhibition, entitled Divine Disorder, commencing this week in Liverpool. Curated by Pam Hogg and DuoVision, this exhibition will feature art, portraits, clothes and pieces from a career re-defining popular culture, including collaborations by Juergen Teller Rankin and Ellen Von Unwerth, along with a selection of images taken by Rankin for a spread in Hunger Magazine in 2012 will also feature in the exhibition. ‘Dr. Hogg’s Divine Disorder, an exhibition of art, fashion and photography’ opens 14th July until 26th August.
