Curious about Logan Roy’s bank balance? Here’s the richest fictional characters ranked

These characters even give the likes of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos a run for their money.

Over the past few years, the wealthiest in the world have seemingly become more and more intertwined with our daily lives. Elon Musk owns one of the world’s most powerful social media platforms; Teslas are all over the roads, and soon we might even have one of his Neuralink chips permanently implanted into our brains. Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos is becoming more and more of a celebrity as time goes on; in fact, we’ve probably seen more reports on Jeff Bezos’ outfits than Kanye West’s over the last few months, which says a lot about our infatuation with the financial powerhouses of this world.

It’s no surprise, then, that one of the most talked about TV shows of our time, Succession, centres around the trials of an uber rich family who own the largest media and entertainment company in the world, WayStar RoyCo. However, after the head of the company, Logan Roy decides to step down, his family begin fighting for control over the conglomerate. Roy is an incredibly cutthroat businessman, but how much is the not-so-proud papa really worth?

Thanks to Forbes Advisor – who have released their fictional rich list – we can reveal that Roy holds a fortune of $18bn, which might seem like an unimaginable amount of money (because it is), but that number doesn’t even put Roy amongst the top five.

Coming in at fifth place is Lex Luthor, who appears in Superman and is worth a resounding $60bn – I suppose if you’re fighting the most powerful human ever to exist, you’ll need a handsome fortune to back you up. But it’s not just the villains who can benefit from their wealth; take Tony Stark, for example (aka Iron Man), whose fortune of $68bn puts him in fourth place, allowing him to create his iconic but costly costumes – which are practically just expensive children’s toys.

In third place is Molly Novak – from the Apple TV+ series, Loot. She’s not your traditional billionaire, amassing her fortune of $87bn after divorcing her husband of 20 years, whom she married without a prenup. But hey, why not take advantage of the system?

Taking the silver medal in second is Mina Tepes, who appears in the anime and manga series Dance in the Vampire Bund. As a vampire, Tepes did have the slight advantage of accumulating her wealth over centuries rather than a lifetime. However, she did use her funds for good, paying off her country’s entire national debt of 40 trillion yen (£230bn).

Sitting on the throne of the wealthiest fictional characters, ironically, is awarded to the king of Wakanda himself, T’Challa (aka Black Panther). T’Challa oversees the vast wealth of Wakanda – a technologically advanced nation rich in the fictional metal vibranium. Unlike other monarchs (*cough cough* the UK royal family), T’Challa focuses on scientific research, education and infrastructure to enrich the Wakandan people, whilst combating global injustices.

Other notable figures on the rich list include Jay Gatsby (£600m), Willy Wonka (£1.5bn) and, Batman himself, Bruce Wayne (£7.3bn).
